Two nights in NYC?
Tia Pol (10th Ave bet. 22nd & 23rd St.) is definitely the best Tapas destination. The fried chickpeas and Shishito peppers are awesome.
What's your favorite fried food?
Definitely fried oreos!

Hell's Kitchen Dinner
I'd definitely say the redundantly named "Hell's Kitchen" on 9th Ave bet. 46th & 47th. They serve really good Modern Mexican food. Go for the Tiger Shrimp and the chocolate cake for dessert!

So many great desserts to choose from! I'm going to have to go with something simple - the olive oil gelato from Otto. In close second is the toasted coconut cake at wd-50. Third place goes to pretty much anything Alex Stupak concocts. No place goes to anything from Magnolia. There are FAR better desserts than that not only in NYC, but pretty much anywhere else in the world!

Thanks for the recommendations! I still have every intention of hitting Astoria to continue my quest, but I had a go at making my own ekmek from the above recipe and thought I'd share the photographic evidence.
