the crispy tofu with a lime beurre blanc at dirt candy was pretty awesome
Drink the Book: 'Punch' by David Wondrich

Bake the Book: 'Plum Gorgeous'
Sour cherries are my favorite because I only get them once a year. My parents have two sour cherry trees and I try to make the most out of the batch we get each july. I think my favorite way to eat them is in a simple pie or cobbler though.

My grandmother, who grew up in alabama and then fell in love with southwestern food living out west would make awesome tortilla casseroles that were the best of southern and southwestern cooking. Casseroles are such an American food because the ingredients are so customizable.

Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies but its only good for a few weeks a year so I always try to enjoy it when it is in season.
Cook the Book: 'At Elizabeth David's Table'
In high school and college when I was first experimenting with cooking I always looked forward to Bittman's Minimalist column and Melissa Clark's A Good Appetite. I still have a folder full of recipes I clipped and tried out.
Weekend Giveaway: 'The Food Matters Cookbook'
I stopped eating meat three years ago and it has made me a lot more deliberate about what I'm eating and where it comes from.
Cook the Book: 'At Home with Madhur Jaffrey'
I like to make an indian shrimp dish that I adapted from somewhere (don't remember where...). You marinate the shrimp in yogurt, minced ginger, jalepeno slices, garlic, cumin, coriander and lime juice. Then a few hours later you dredge the shrimp in flour and fry them. YUM
Cook the Book: 'Appetite for Reduction'
Beans are a great, wholesome protein source! One of my favorite recipes lately is one I got for greek baked beans from the nytimes recipes for health column. I'm sure you could replace the honey to make it truly vegan-

Irish soda bread definitely

I don't know how authentic it is but I love making penne with vodka sauce. I start with canned tomatoes and garlic, and then the vodka and cream added at the end make it super tasty.
Cook the Book: 'The Art of Eating In'
I love great restaurants, but the food I make at home is so much better then most of the takeout I might otherwise eat during the week. Plus I know exactly what's in it.

Valentine's Day Giveaway: Peanut Butter & Co. Chocolate Hearts
All this easter candy talk reminds me of cadbury eggs. The small, candy coated chocolate ones are probably my favorite drugstore type chocolate ever. It's probably a good thing they aren't available all year because I go through a bag pretty quickly!
2010 Trend Prediction: Fancy Oatmeal
I don't use mineral water I always put the oats in with the water right away to boil (with salt). I think it cooks the oats more evenly. Then I mix in cream and top the bowl with some agave nectar and I end up with most delicious bowl of oatmeal I've ever had.
