Cook the Book: 'What We Eat When We Eat Alone'
Kale and shallots simmered in chicken stock with an egg thrown in to poach in the last few minutes of cooking. Served over crusty bread and topped with parmesan. Not very pretty, but delicious.

I love Blimpy Burger! The fried veggies are terrific, and getting a fried egg on your burger is a must. I know the cooks have a reputation for being intimidating, but I've never been yelled at or treated rudely. The best part about Blimpy's is the giant Snow Bear sculpture they create out front every year after the first snow fall.

Nhu Lan is the best. Not only are the banh mi delicious (I am also partial to the #4), but the employees are unfailingly friendly and accommodating. My boyfriend and I always get the shrimp chips, too, and an iced coffee or a smoothie if we're feeling particularly indulgent.
