Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Chinese Takeout Order?

Scallion pancakes. On some Saturday nights when alone, I'll place an order for only these for dinner.

One night in DC for work...where to eat?

I will be there next week, and we will be mostly spending our time around dupont circle/downtown area and will be using the Metro.

Cook the Book: 'The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook'

Some of my favorite meals lately have been creative pantry meals. Recently made some tacos with masa flour that needed to be used up, black beans, roasted root vegetables and feta (a decent cotija sub in a pinch!)

Busty Yogurt Biscuits

Any chance you could include how you make self rising flour?

Knead the Book: Southern Biscuits

rarely need more than butter, but a few slices of tomatoes and a poached egg is heaven!

Chickpea, Coconut, and Cashew Curry

I love making curry about home, and this seems like a great quick meal! Any suggestions for how to thicken without nuts, though? I figure a cornstarch slurry would work, but not as tasty.

Taste Test: Store-Bought Tofu

Greater boston can find 21st centuary tofu in many smaller markets, like Harvest:

One night in DC for work...where to eat?

A coworker and I are heading into DC for all of 24 hours for a few meetings, so naturally, we are carefully planning all of our meals.

It's been about 10 years since I last went to the city. She used to go down for a weekend once a month for two years, but was on a very limited income and rarely ate out.

If we were to have one fantastic, but not to expensive dinner (maybe around $30 person with drinks), where should we go? One caveat, it should have some vegetarian offerings.
