Where Do You Get Your Favorite Pizza?

Portland Oregon:

Ken's is hands down the best Pizza in Portland.

I dont get the hype over A'pizza Scholls...its very average. but they've done a great job of making marketing the fact that they run out of dough every night...

Dove Vivi is kinda new on the scene (couple years at most) and they are making great pizzas. it's a totally different style that you cant compare to Kens...but I'd say equally as good...just different.

There is a new place in town - The Globe - 2045 SE Belmont - and they are making some interesting pizzas. they run their oven at 690, and their dough is a 2 day process...on Wednesday you're eating dough they started on Monday. it's a blend of flours with a small amount of whole wheat for texture and flavor. very tasty. worth checking out.

What A $47,221 Lunch Looks Like

some things are worth paying extra for...but what makes no sense is when someone pays extra for nothing... spending money simply because you have it? wtf??? makes the person/people look like fools.

better have come with a round of blow jobs if you ask me. with a side of nice ass, and i don't know what else....

Would You Go to a Chain Restaurant on a First Date?

Speaking from quirky Portland Oregon - if i were on a first date with a girl, and she chose TGIF, or something equally annoying - i would be highly suspicious.

1st thought : this girl eats factory food from FSA and Sysco - are you kidding me? that shit sucks!!! serious black mark

2nd thought: for a factory chain like this to even be an option tells me she probably lives out in the burbs surrounded by strip malls
(as opposed to all the urban dwellers of Portland that walk & ride bikes everywhere, and every neighborhood corner has wonderful food and bar options)

3rd thought: the likes of TGIF ship their goods by truck all over the damn country just to make sure that every menu is the same
(see point 1 - factory food) which tells me that anyone today who thinks this is responsible or sustainable is not paying attention - black mark.

she would have to be incredibly hot, I would have to be desperate, and/or she would be seeking to move into Portland and seriously make a life change for me to seek a 2nd date.

Good quality food is serious business!!

Expresso vs Espresso: A pro-Expresso Rant

i would say that since the italians probably deserve credit for inventing espresso, they probably have jurisdiction over the proper spelling/pronunciation of the word. just because americans are stupid and cant speak foreign languages doesn't give us jurisdiction to butcher everyone else's

To quote JerzeeTomato:
"Sempre lo stesso che dire che e espresso!"

d'accordo!!

What is appealing about beer?

wow - surprisingly enough this did not deteriorate into a war....maybe this will help.

beer is 4 ingredients:
water
malt
hops
yeast

as a beverage, it's fairly simple recipe yet produces a vast assortment of flavors, colors, aroma, style, alcohol levels, fizzy, not fizzy, sweet, sour, etc...

beer is a much more complex beverage than wine which is just grape juice and yeast (and oak when used) Scientifically speaking, wine is a far less complex beverage, and therefore (some would argue) far fussier to pair with food than beer. There is a great book called The Brewmaster's Table by Garrett Oliver that goes into great detail on food pairing with beer.

Now I will confess that I'm a beer brewer and wine maker - I love them both, and they each have their place. but it's hard to beat a nice cold refreshing pint of ale on a hot day!
