Best Heirloom Tomato Recipes

Ok, something I picked up from the Tioman Islands in Malaysia: it's not cooked, but it is awesome....

Tomatoes - heirloom, plum, whatever whatever, as long as they're ripe and room temperature

Cashew nuts - unsalted; toast them in the oven or in a pan with no oil, but a little rock salt

Cucumber - de-seeded, and diced. Small. Ish.

All of the following, finely diced:

Red chilli - small and hot
Shallots
Garlic
Ginger
Galangal - if you've got it

A big dash of the following:

Sesame oil
Mirin
Shao Xing rice wine
Soya sauce
Fish sauce

Loads of black pepper.

Toss it all together and serve at room temperature. Tasty ;)

Toasted cashew - in a pan or the oven and with a bit of rock salt,

Diced cucmber, deseeded

The following, all finely diced:

Spring onion

A large dash of each:

Toss it all together ands serve.

Super tasty ;)

New York Surprise Dinner - Need some help

Hi,

My sister is being taken to NYC by her boyfriend for her 21st; we're from the UK and it's her 1st time stateside.

She's a total foodie, in fact the whole family is, so I wanted to book and pay for a special meal for her and her fella.

She likes everything but has a penchant for japanese, thai and seafood. Can anyone suggest a truly great, upmarket restaurant? I love NYC and was thinking somewhere like Nobu, but wanted somewhere a bit more off the radar.

Any suggestions appreciated and considered

Many Thanks

Rob
