Oh, I'm getting hungry....I love it on fresh foccacia bread with mozzarella and basil and tomatoes and olive oil. I could eat this every day.
Cook the Book: 'The King Arthur Flour Cookie Companion'
I don't really have a memory of baking cookies with my mom...but I know my older sister baked Toll House CC cookies with me. Rugelach is one of the cookies I bake with my girls each holiday season, a really special cookie!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks
I know loads of people say porterhouse, or strip or filet....but there's just something so yummy about a skirt steak...
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Zingerman's Culinary Adventure Society
I am constantly finding new favorites as I eat and live! My favorite is often what I'm eating now! I would pick this year's favorite being eating the tomatoes and basil from my own garden this summer. Eating a tomato still warm from the sun....just perfect. As I ate, all of the steps leading up to that moment came into view, planting the seeds with my kids back in March, digging out the new garden, putting the fence up, transplanting in May. Can't wait for next summer!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Charles Chocolates
Molten chocolate cake with coffee gelato....and some whipped cream and fresh fruit!
Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Russ & Daughters Brunch Package
I love to put scallion cream cheese and lox on one side of a bagel and whitefish, not even whitefish salad, but the big chunks of fish on the other. Yum.
Cook the Book: The Splendid Table's How to Eat Supper
Lynne Rossetto Casper! I have been such a big fan of her radio show, I download the podcast and listen on my music player. - I guess I'd ask her what's for dinner tonight!
Cook the Book: Lidia's Italy
Wow, I have to sit and read all of these comments, so many ideas here! It does depend on the season, I like to have a fresh arranged salad of lettuces and veggies, but I think my pulled pork with coleslaw is my go to party dish when I want to please a crowd.
Cook the Book: The Oprah Magazine Cookbook
Hmmm, I think even with all the hype and overkill, I'd like to sit and talk with Oprah, because I feel that she is a real person under the celebrity.
Cook the Book: 'My Last Supper'
This is kind of sad....and makes me feel like I should dine like this more often, why wait until it was my last meal. And how would that go? You get a phone call, one last meal, let's go! Ugh.
Anyway, a blanket on the beach near my home, with a bowl of fresh fruit and melons, and a plate of crusty bread and cheeses....though would the sand get in all of that? Ok, it's not a windy day!
I should have this for dinner tonight!
Staff Favorite: 'Sheep!' Magazine
Is this a knitting blog? I have to put SE in another category!
Cook the Book: Win a Copy of 'Cook with Jamie'
The very bare bones were taught to me by my mom, but my real trial by fire was when my then husband & I bought a deli in my mid 20's. I was making gallons of soups and all sorts of salads daily. I did become quite the short order cook as well, working the egg specials! But now I've become more intuitive in my cooking, not following recipes anymore and becoming a more adventurous cook. The internet, Food Network, and my lovely cooking magazines have been a great help!
