Dinner Tonight: Grandmother's Egg Salad (Sandwich)

I am also a fan of egg salad sandwiches. First fry up some onions in a bit of oil. Chop the softened, hot onions along with the eggs, add capers and it's a HIT.

Don't forget Sullivan Street Bakery for great bread.

Anything for lunch near Port Authority?

Actually, Port Authority (42nd Street & 8th Avenue) isn't far from Joe Allen on West 46 Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. Or, if you're in the mood, there's Chipotle on 9th Avenue and 44th Street or 45th Street, I believe. The former has good burgers and great salads. The latter is a chain with fresh Mexican/Southwestern food. A huge burrito (much more than enough for one person) and large drink will set you back less than $10.00

Meatpacking or Chelsea Neighborhood Faves?

Someone above mentioned Cafeteria. I love their burgers and other simple food, but the noise level is beyond endurance.
I think Tello on 19th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues is a fine, simple "family-type" Italian restaurant with always fresh food. Super chicken and veal dishes.
