Please, tell us where you're from...

I'm 68 years old and my husband and I have traveled all over the world with incredible eating along the way. He's now seriously ill and we stay in Pittsburgh where I get my vicarious pleasures gastronomically from SE.

How to Make Grilled Pizza

My husband has grilled pizza for years. He uses a metal (stainless steel?) pizza pan that is perforated. He heats the grill to 500, closes the lid and cooks the pizza for 71/2 minutes (with a stop watch) with all gas valves wide open. He makes the crust from a sourdough starter. We usually have pizza once a week, all different kinds -red sauce, white sauce, cheese, no cheese. Best pizza I have ever had with an incredible - not burned but crisp -crust. Incidentally, he hand throws the crust and then tucks it onto the pan.

What's The Best Sandwich You've Ever Had?

Caviar (the black roe, not the expensive stuff) and cream cheese with onion on a bulky roll.

Critic-Turned-Cook Mulls Question: Worst Meal Ever?

My husband and I took an out of town friend to a small, pricey restaurant outside Pittsburgh. The service was attentive, the wine superb and the appetizers wonderful. My husband and friend both ordered the same fish entree. His was fantastic while hers was thick, partially cooked and tough. We brought it to the attention of the server who took it back to the kitchen. A moment later the chef appeared, pulled up a chair, sat down and ordered us out of the restaurant. When we protested that we hadn't paid, he just kept yelling "Out!Out!" We managed to tip the server who was crying and then we marched out past all the other diners. What a horrible way to get a free meal.

Five Guys. Not so much.

Pittsburgh: 5 Guys burgers are good but hot fries are incredible. Don't attempt to take them home. They don't travel well. Anymore, after reading NYTimes article, I'm trying to avoid beef. Home beef, maybe Cosco..
