Gordon- excellent chef, excellent promoter. But as a fat, bald, alcoholic cook, I must take exception to his remarks.

db, sounds to me like a Danish aebleskiver pan, made to make round, filled doughnuts. Some of these pans are made to be just decorative. I bought one years ago, but it couldn't justify it's space in the kitchen so I had to let it go.

Um, if this is true, he's absolutely bats**t insane. I'm surprised women would work with him in any of his kitchens.

@condiment: American food critics seem disappointed that his food doesn't match his public persona. He does scarily reverent French food; he's not wildly inventive or shocking on the plate, just meticulous.

She needed a couple of eps to course-correct. I think we have a winner on our hands.

I'm so glad most of you are warming up to Annie...I've loved her from the beginning, grunts and all.

The oiled bottom on the pan that went on top of the fish to keep it flat in the pan was another trick she's taught me.

Next week...Brined pork chops. Can't wait.

I must admit, she IS getting better. Maybe she will take Sandra Lee's time slots...all of them.

@muscosal - Just checked FN's tv schedule for this coming week and, unfortunately, you're going to have to set your alarm on Sunday if you want to watch her. FN hasn't put her on the re-run schedule yet, though why I don't know. Sure would make better programming than the tired re-runs they're currently trotting out.

I like Ramsay well enough, but weighing his staff is straight-up bonkers. What, does he give the men in his kitchen prostate exams as well, to ensure that they're still able to pitch their tents effectively ? Does he examine their skin for melanoma and then scold them for spending too much time in the sun? Bollocks.

I love Gordon Ramsay - America/The Fox Network has exacerbated the more explosive side of his personality. As others have commented, the BBC persona is entirely different and extremely likeable.

It didn't seem like in his interview he was commenting on critique of his shows or his personality, but rather his cooking and food. I agree that many food critics (and the ever-growing community of food bloggers) can't hold a candle to his depth of experience, nor can they to so many other great chefs, so I can understand the source of his frustration. He must be doing something right to be as successful as he is, and it didn't start with a TV show.

It may not BE an English muffin pan, but I'm thinking that's what I might make in it. I usually make EngMuffs on a griddle, but with the wells, I could try a recipe with a slacker dough.

I have a feeling this might be the type of thing that was sold as a gimmicky device with a recipe for something the seller made up. It has a sort of 60s-70's vibe to the designs.

I just need to take a photo of it....

maybe it's an english muffin pan ???

Are the wells shallow? Could it be a shortbread pan?

The aebelskiver's got round bottoms. This is more like the shape of an english muffin. And there are only 4 of the wells, so whatever it is, either they cook fast, or you don't make a whole bunch of 'em.

I'll get a photo of it somewhere as soon as I can...

Thanks for trying...

Does it look like this? I bought an Aebelskiver pan from Amazon for about $9 and I've only used it once but it's too cute to give away.

Please take a picture of your pan and post it on photobucket or some other picture hosting site so we can see your pan!
