Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Two Peter Luger Steaks

My favorite restaurant steak is definitely a ribeye, but if I'm cooking it myself, I'd go for a flank steak. Ribeye is tasty, mmm.

Is a Small Kitchen an Excuse for Bad Cooking or Not Cooking at All?

All I had in the two apartments I lived in before my current one was a tiny, two-burner electric hotplate, a mini-fridge with almost no freezer space, a sink, and only enough counterspace for a cutting board. Oh, and one had a small microwave. I still cooked almost every night. Sure, it was tricky trying to balance bowls on chairs or to avoid smacking my elbow on the fridge, but in the end, heat plus food equals cooking.

If you simply don't like to cook, you won't do it even if your shoebox kitchen has a growth spurt. Accept it, forget the guilt, and go eat the food of people who do love to cook. There's plenty of them out there.

Cook the Book: 'The Cook's Country Cookbook'

I take guilty pleasure in this cheesy crockpot dip my aunt makes for family parties. It definitely has Velveeta and spicy breakfast sausage in it, but I couldn't tell you what else. We dip in torn pieces of baguette and try not to think too hard about all the glorious fat coating our tastebuds . . . mmm.

Ask me another day and I might also cop to a love of macaroni and cheese (preferably made with Emmentaler) or enchilada casseroles (preferably made with real Mexican cheese). I think there's a theme here.

McDonald's to Offer Olympics-Inspired Menus Around the World

Here in Prague we're getting the Beef Wong (a burger with Napa cabbage salad and a teriyaki-like sauce wrapped in stale, black sesame seed-dotted flatbread) and the Chicken Ming (a McChicken with curry sauce and cabbage salad). My husband said the chicken one wasn't bad, but the burger was terrible. Oh yeah, there's also fried shrimp. A highly representative Chinese menu, for sure. ;-)

McDonald's Iced Coffee Product Placement on A.M. News

I would have found product placement on the news distressing, but it reminded me of how so many newspapers put ads on the front page these days. Really, it was just a matter of time.

I don't really have a favorite. I just love steak. If I had to pick one it would probably be a filet.

Believe it or not... the best cut I ever grilled was a flat iron steak. Tender like Fillet Mignon, with the beefy taste of a Strip steak. My new favorite.

While I love a nice rib eye thick with dry rub and baked or thin on the grill with seasoning, the mighty Porterhouse is the undisputed champion.

I love a Porterhouse steak, medium rare, with cognac peppercorn sauce. My husband and I order this and split it, just enough for two!

We love ribeye steak. A strip steak is second choice. But for a special day a standing rib roast is tops!

I always forget which one I like better--sirloin or NY strip. But yummy!
