Top 10 Awesome Nostalgic Foods We Want Back
I really really miss "Crunch Taters"..those extra super so-crispy-they-almost-make-you-chip-a-tooth potato doohickeys that came in BBQ and (most awesome) jalapeno flavors...YUM!

Two very different culinary experiences remain in my mind:
One is an early childhood food memory, the apricot dumplings (marrilen knudel) that my austrian mother used to make for me, coated in crunchy caramelized sugar, with that sweet stewed apricot in the center...I can still taste them 30 years later as if it were yesterday. Heaven.
The best restaurant dish I ever tasted was the "ribbons of tuna with ginger marinade " at Jean Georges in New York. The tuna was the freshest I have ever tasted outside of Japan and the blend of ginger, chile, radish and avocado was....unforgettable.
One of my favorite lunch salads is tabouleh: it's fresh, filling and low in fat and calories. I'll usually pair it with some prosciutto and whole wheat crackers, fresh cheese or some baked chicken. The only drawback is that my whole offie is often filled with the smell of green onions. I love 'em in my tabouleh, but they're kinda unprofessional!
here in italy we have a chain called.."kono pizza" where they put your pizza cone in a little conveyor belt to melt the cheese to scalding hot lava temp--and they come in two sizes..totally evil food but irresistible!!

Be careful about what you wish to come back. I've had several childhood favorites come back into my life and they just aren't as good as I remembered them to be. It was more of a let-down than a thrill! I wish now I had just stayed with the memories.......
FYI: HYDROX!
I manage a grocery store in Florida, and I just found out today that Keebler is bringing back the Sunshine Hydrox cookies for the 100th anniversary. In their original package. I guess if they do good they'll keep them around, if not, they'll disappear again. We're supposed to get them in on Friday.
Anybody remember Sprinkle Spangles? Anybody? It was a cereal made of star shapes, sprinkles and lots of sugar. Beautiful rocket fuel.
I just found some cookies that are a lot like Magic Middles at a truck stop in Italy. They're called Grisbi. Google them online.
Nabisco chipsters and a glass of chocolate milk made with PDQ.........yummm.....and then for dessert, maybe a Milkshake candy bar.
Does anyone remember the little potato chips that came in a box? They looked like little uninflated balloons. They were really crispy, and it seems like there was a hot air balloon on the box. They were always near the Bugles. They kind of tasted like Munchos. I have been thinking about these for years.
Had to join up just to add this comment: I totally miss Fizzies, the fruity tablets that you dropped in cold water to make instant carbonated beverages. The chemists couldn't get it to work or taste quite the same after cyclamates were banned in 1969. Although is supposedly reformulated good as new in 2006. http://www.oldtimecandy.com/fizzies.htm
Does anyone remember the Golden Grahams cereal that had the little marshmallows and chocolate pieces in it -- smore-ie goodness!!
Smore's Crunch!!

Sunshine Hydroxy Cookies! They were much better than Oreos for me. Well, OK ... maybe my palate has changed, and but now I will never know. I would still love to get my hands on some of those cookies. I haven't been able to find them in eons. Probably too many dreaded trans-fats. Such a bummer ...
I must admit that i remeber almost all of these foods, but honestly don't miss any of them! Charlie Chips in the can delivered to your front door was THE BEST. Thye may be available some places, but they are definitely not the same chip. they are not any good anymore. That is my reminiscence.
