In Season: Brussels Sprouts
In the latest GQ issue, there is a Momofuku-inspired recipe for deelish brussel sprouts. The trick is to sautee them face down first in butter to get the carmelization and then throw them in the oven.
Also, bacon and sriracha.
'Julie & Julia' Trailer Now Available Online
I really enjoyed Heat and Kitchen Confidential; those were books that gave me a chance to peek through a keyhole to a world of professional cooking that I will never ever have access to. But Julie/Julia was a book that actually made me feel like I was there with them, in the trenches of cooking and enjoying all the ups and downs in a tiny kitchen. I absolutely can't wait! Any info on how excited the real Julie Powell is about this movie project?
Blogwatch: Clementine Granita
You wouldn't believe me if I said this but *THIS* is something I made when I was a kid home alone! My parents wouldn't let me use the stove, so I wasn't allowed to "cook" a whole lot. Oh, how it reminds me of my childhood back in Taiwan! What we called "oranges" in Taiwan are actually clementines, and I would juice the crap out of them, pour the juice in to the blender with some ice and sugar and just eat spoonfuls of it, while enjoying my pseudo-kitchen prowess.

About momopeche
Website: http://americurry.com
Location: Berkeley, CA
About: I like whiskey, bears, videogames, and ring pops. I work in the videogame industry where I'm on my ass a lot. But I dabble in distance running and veganism. Spent my life living in Taiwan until age 18. Also, I melt faces because of all of this RAWK.
Favorite foods: Those Persian nougats with the pistachios and rosewater that they sell in a bin by the cash registers in small grocery stores. Those drive me insane with titillation.
Last bite on earth:

My favorite candy of all time has to be Gaz, or Persian nougat. The fluffy white nougat is perfumed with rosewater and cheery green pistacios studded throughout. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaz_%28candy%29
Though my husband thinks it tastes like soap. Rosewater is very polarizing.
