I have a small Lodge cast iron that seems pretty messed up... as you can see in this picture (http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ma5r0j89e41qztp5po1_500.jpg)
it is rather patch and such. I'm not sure how to proceed- I've tried scrubbing it but there was already "patches" of the cast iron that refused to be seasoned even after several attempts. There are also scratches on the side... please advise!

So I just graduated college early and am moving into my first apt. I wanted to know any recommendations for high quality basic cookware set I can ask for Christmas - pans, sauce pans, stock pot, etc. It'll be a combo bday/xmas gift so I guess it can sort of pricey, but not too pricey, if you know what I mean. Figure I'd ask the serious eaters first!
