"Cleanup in aisle seven"

I was going down the wine aisle. Selected a bottle. The bottom of the bottle tapped the side of the cart as I went to put it in. The bottom of the bottle fell off. And, it was a red wine.

Free-lance savory to taste. Never deviate from baking.......which is why I don 't bake much.

I NEED A RECIPE FOR PICKLE JUICE!!!!!!

Take a couple of goat's heads, two quarts of full-fat yogurt, and put them in a pillowcase (washed without fabric softener), and then hang it out in the sun for two days. Voila.....pickle juice.

Agreed....Troll. Hope the gene pool there is drained.

Do I have a cheese problem?

The only cheese problem I have is eating all of the stuff I buy. I circle the cheese case at my market a couple of times when I'm in there (daily)......just because.

Anyone know how much a "speck" is?

Thought Speck was the pointy eared first officer on The Starship Enterprise.

Eating Alone (In Restaurants)

Having spent many military years on the road, I don't mind eating by myself. The operative factor is that I want supper.

The Joys of Unnaturally Flavored Sodas

Standard Fresca is about the only "diet" drink I can tolerate, so I get it when I'm in a soda mood. And it makes, as previously stated, a good mixer.

@Pavlov.....Moxie! I remember drinking that growing up as well.....don't have it in this, or perhaps any part of, GA, disfortunatley.

"I LOVE ANGEL HAIR, BUT HATE SPAGHETTI!!!" ..... WTF?!

A hard-boiled egg.....just the white part gets eaten. Fixed any other way, the whole enchilada.

Drive Thru: Way or No Way?

Huh. May have to relocate to Wyoming. Last liquor drive through I saw was when I was a teenager in FL.......they'd be handing mixed drinks out of the window...a few years ago, of course.....didn't think anything of it at the time.

Other than that, the ordinary variety is avoided. The wife was screaming to leave to get to work, and then spent 15 minutes sitting in the Starbucks line. Go figure.

How School Cafeteria Lunches Differ Around the World

Oddly, perhaps, I don't remember disliking school lunches.....forbidden fruit I suppose. I did have an issue with the college, when I lived in the dorms my second year. A tray of beef would be all large veins. Cake was a favorite, though, and there were, over the course of the year, some seriously expanding backsides.

Are you a liar?

Baking is tougher, i.e., less forgiving than making a stew or sumpin savory. Better left to the full-timers at Kroger or Publix. Although I've never forgotten the main ingredient. But give me time. My usual approach is to say "this is almost edible", even when I hit it.

Who's your most/least favorite food personality on Food Channel?

I used to watch this channel frequently for info on cooking techniques, and good recipes; not on much anymore. Weekend getaways at $40 and such rot are a waste of time. I have no problem with the dumbed-down shows for the chef-boyardee crowd, but I have the travel channel, with Bourdain, for the other stuff.

Faves: Alton, Mario, Sara

Middling: Sandra, Giada [OK....just eye candy....no turtlenecks needed]. Flay....I like the genre, so I follow his recipes. Emeril....shelf life date gone by......he's now a shill on the "green network".....and, not convincingly so. Paula.....on the fast track to Emeril status.

Least: Ray Ray. Well, Sandra too...although S doesn't annoy me me nearly as much as does RR.

How To Save Money at Supermarkets

My local Kroger puts out meat with "sell-by the next day" on sale the morning before. Usually about 40-50 percentos off. Use or freeze. I'm in there at least 6 days a week; I probably have a nickname. Avoid, avoid, avoid, at all costs, marked down fish.

Cook the Book: 'On the Line'

Hard to beat a nice white fish coated with seasoned corn meal and then fried.....probably because I don't get it all that often. Other than that, frequently cooked with tomato, onions, capers, vino....served with rice.
