Cook the Book: 'On the Line'
The way my mom always cooks it -- Asian style!! Steamed, topped with fried garlic, onions, green onion/parsley, and soy sauce before serving.
What are your favorite products from Trader Joe's?
I must second the Tuscan White Bean Hummus... it is really the best storebought hummus I've ever had.
I also recently discovered the Tomato Chutney... AWESOME!! It is spicy, sweet, tangy, and goes great on their Vegetable Masala burgers microwaved with spinach ;)
And every time I MUST get their Nonfat European Style Yogurt (the kind in the big blue container)... it is so good plain, but goes great with cereal and bananas as well.
Must go this weekend...........

I looove refrigerator type cookies. You mix them, roll them up in parchment or plastic wrap, refrigerate, and slice!! So simple, and you can really make any flavors that you want. Big hits during holiday time are Earl Grey cookies from Martha Stewart, Lavender Lemon cookies, and Pierre Herme's Korova cookies... yum yum yum.
A Zingerman's Education: Exclusive Student Care Packages
I'm currently a junior, wishing I were a senior, and wanting to receive these items...
-Either the gianduja cream or hazelnut/chocolate cream... I LOVE nutella, and most people do... so a decadent grown up version of it would be greatly appreciated by most I believe
-Chocolate sourdough bread or chocolate cherry bread... to eat with the hazelnut cream!
-Zingerman's cream cheese... for seniors who think they have experienced it all but actually have not
-Rustichella Italian Pastas: pasta, the staple food of college students. transform the experience with rustic style pasta!
-Il Mongetto's Original Tomato Sauce: abandon the prego!
-Edward's Butter Toasted Peanuts: Everyone loves Honey-Roasted... why not Butter Toasted?? I love having huge tins of nuts to snack on.
-1 magic brownie, 1 dulce de leche brownie, 1 orange almond brownie, 1 pecan blondie. 1 for each year of school completed? Or....just because then you'd get to taste 4...
I'm not sure how much $ this amounts to, but give or take, this would make a wonderful, perfect basket for me! :) Not too many things that would go bad without eating them quickly (even though, theoretically people share and eat a lot in college, I am still one to worry about these things), and yet, still a wonderful assortment of foooood!!!

Serious Eats City Guide: Philadelphia (Way Beyond the Cheesesteak)
Tiffins ( Indian ) for best bargain lunch I would not touch with a pole. Too much hype and too little authenticity. Nothing Indian about it except the uncook like taste of its sauces and sweetishness of it., MSG comes to mind.
There are better bargain Indian lunches. Of course if you are a lazy SOB and rather stay put on ur butt then walk a block go for it, it does leave you full like a fool.
I give credit to its owner ( a Wharton grade ) whose marketing skills bar none is what makes the college a rave, another "Quiznos" franchise in the making.
But calling it Indian Cuisine....pluzze.

To the Columbia Mo crowd, I am the one who drove 100 miles to St. Louis to get the Blackberry Tea! Columbia is now so large, we could support a TJs if they would put one there!
What are your favorite products from Trader Joe's?
I drove 100 miles to the closest Trader Joes to me just to purchase their Blackberry Infusion tea and they NO LONGER CARRY IT!!!!!!!!!!! I could have cried. I am in love with that tea. They told me to try World Market and I found some Blackberry Sage green tea (for 3x the cost of Trader Joes teas) and it was weak and not comparable at all Could someone please tell me where I can find that luscious tea???? Many thanks!

His interview on NPR was great. He made me think of eating in a more responsible way. In some ways it is better to eat local raised meats than imported produce. That kinda shocked me. We really need to think about the chemicals involved in transport and packaging foods.
