Le Beaujolais Nouveau is coming Nov. 17th...

i know, i know, real wine drinkers arent supposed to like this, but who cares? i love it. although its not great every year, its fun. the anticipation. the arrival. the taste. we have it for thanksgiving dinner and if the year produces a particularly good wine, throughout the holiday season. cheers!

Thanksgiving Day Feast- when do you eat it?

thanksgiving - my favorite holiday. here's what we do in my family. its the holiday i always cook! we are up early watching the parade and sippin' some eggnog, with or without a little sumpin' sumpin' in it. then we open the beaujolais nouveau while we cook dinner - i bake a bird in the oven, my brother fries one. we eat promptly at three, just in time for the cowboys game. clean up at half time and leftovers and dessert after the game, about 7ish - with the rest of the family that couldnt make it early in the day. of course, my sister, daughter and niece are up early for black friday - then its turkey soup in the afternoon! cheers!

timely. my dad is from sweden and just celebrated his 78th birthday. i made an entire swedish smorgasbord using all family recipes. he loved it. our family makes more of brown gravy using the bits from the pan; we reserve the cream gravy for lutefisk :)
