there are 2 of us in my office who bake for "birthday Tuesday" once a month. everyone else is happy to eat the food but not contribute anything to it...so in the summer we have ice cream socials where everyone brings something in. inevtiably, some people did not bring in anything but expected to eat what everyone else brought in. this caused a lot of fighting.
whenever i bake something for the office, it is a problem at home. the hubby feels cheated that he doens't get any....so now i am going to buy something, that way the house won't smell like yummies....

mmm I have made many recipes in the crock pot that did not come out like "stewy peasant Irish food" and I happen to like Irish food very much.
Also, when I make truffles, I don't contaminate them with corn syrup...blech! They are much smoother and more sensual without the corn syrup.

My first foray into "serious eats" I am sure I will like other articles better.

The sound of the dishwasher, followed by the pop of a wine bottle opening. That means the kitchen is clean and we're ready to go outside and relax on the deck by the lake.

thanks to PETA, i can now hear live crawfish screaming as they are dropped into boiling seasoned water. when the potatoes, corn and mushrooms join in, it is a wonderful sound.

Onions sizzling in a pan. The sound as they first hit the hot oil--wow! Of course, it could be the smell that aids the sense of hearing. ANything sizzling sounds good to me--such a great onomatopoetic word!

That pop, squeal then sizzle when one of my homemade sausages bursts slightly on the grill.

The sound of the hood fans being turned on first thing in the morning, and the shuffle of the morning crew as they prepare for the day.
