Thanks for all the wishes. But the reality Adam is you are posting new content like Cook the Book only I have to wade through shit I've already seen to get it. Here's an idea, be happy with a light week, and let us all enjoy it. -- Holli
'Top Chef' Season 5, Episode 1
Totally disagree suburbangourmet. I loved the Quickfire elim., and I love that real skills were what kept you in the game.
Cook the Book: 'Summer on a Plate'
One of my early mentors would be my mother in law. She still cooks Sunday dinner for at least 20 almost every week. My next mentor would be Martha Stewart. She really started broadening my horizons. And then I'd list Sarah Moulton. I'd watch her for hours when my son was a newborn.

'Top Chef': Things Get Sticky at Restaurant Wars
Lou Mitchell's was the breakfast restaurant. They give you donut holes while you're waiting in line. They give women and children small boxes of Milk Duds too. It's near the Sears Tower.
Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Elements of Cooking'
The most important element of cooking is developing a sense of what tastes right and being able to adapt to achieve that in your dishes.
Daylight Saving Time Extended to Sell More Candy?
I don't care why they extended daylight savings time, but I loved being able to trick or treat when I could still see! It was the best time we've ever had trick or treating because it was safe enough to let the kids run with less adult supervision. I wish we'd never change the time.
Cook the Book: Pecan Apple Rye Pie
I tried this pie though I cheated on the crust and I guess I underbaked it. It didn't set, so I substituted bowl for a pie plate, topped with vanilla ice cream and redubbed it cobbler. It tasted great, but didn't look like pie.
Weekend Book Giveaway: Real Barbecue
For pulled pork sandwiches I agree with Erinay77, it's Interstate BBQ in Memphis, both the original location and in the airport. For ribs, Central BBQ also 2 locations in Memphis. For something unusual the Cornish Game Hens at Cozy Corner, also in Memphis.
Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Amateur Gourmet'
I'm a newlywed and its Thanksgiving. We live over 2000 miles from home, so my in-laws are coming and my mother-in-law is going to cook. She faxes me the grocery list on it is "frozen onion, chopped." Thanksgiving morning arrives and she asks where's the onion. I open the freezer and remove one yellow onion completely frozen and wait for her to chop it.

I used to love when we'd get boiled crab and just run through them. We moved from New Orleans and there isn't a place to get them anymore.
Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'
My fondest childhood food memory was Thanksgiving at Grammy's house. Though Grammy was not much of a cook and we would have canned gravy, instant mashed potatoes, canned sweet potatoes and in those days, (late 60's) none of those products were good. But, eventhough the food stunk, we still had a good time. Thanks for a great giveaway.
PS: Sorry Grammy, I'm sure your a first rate chef for the angels.
Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'
Growing up we often had cake or pie for breakfast. It wasn't untill I went to college that I realized it was a bit outside the norm. But It hasnt stopped me from continuing to enjoy the tradition.
Cook the Book: 'Real Cajun'
My favourite memory from childhood is every year we woud have the whole family come over for hot-pot. It was such and exciting time and a variety of food as each member would bring something different for the hot-pot. It was a surprise to see what would be cooking.
