Tip: How to Read Turkey Labels
The freezing point for turkeys is 26 rather than 32 because it isn't just water -- it has salt and oils and other things in it that lower the freezing point. It is interesting stuff!

I never realized that there was so many different types of turkeys. I always use the frozen ones but I would love to try the all natural one.

Basted, self-basting, or "enhanced" - since you buy turkeys by the pound, a bird in this category means you are paying good money for something other than turkey meat!
A note to gluten free or allergic families - some of these turkeys include basting solutions that contain gluten.

Ed, are you sure that "heritage" automatically = "free range"? I see the official definition but wonder whether it's enforced. There's a lot of folks bending the rules with other meats.... Also, where I live, sadly, it's apparently illegal to raise turkeys, heritage or not, outdoors.

Wild Mushroom Bundles sounds really good. we always like to do at least one mushroom dish for the table. I looked at alternative to turkey, but was disappointed that there was only one veg idea and it sounded kind of gross. We have so many guests that we like to provide many different options to choose from.

Well, never had a fresh turkey before, so making Lidia Bastianich's Broccoli Rabe with Oil and Garlic would be a first too , I think both would be awesome to try.

Since my daughter is having surgery on Monday before the big day, our choice for this year is the Easy Thanksgiving Menu.
