DIY vs. Buy: Should I Make My Own Irish Cream?

Had to laugh. Many many years ago when Baileys was first being formulated the company my Dad worked for (then called Express Dairies) was providing the cream for Baileys. They have long since been replaced as the source of cream. We would get test batches to taste and test. (True to the UK and Western European attitude toward booze, I was in my early teens and got to taste and give my opinion). Many curdled and pretty gross. I don't like whiskey and didn't really like any of the test batches but some were smooth and mellow.

I have more pleasant memories of when they first started to experiment with "stuff" in cream cheese. Smoked salmon, chives, pineapple etc. We would get 3lb skins of the latest tests. They were usually good. When we suddenly get 24 lbs of cream cheese in the fridge, I was encouraged to give it away. I was quite popular.

The way Worcestershire sauce is pronounced in the UK, including ads on the telly from the company is Wustershur sauce.

I always tell my non-UK friends that he best way to figure out how to pronounce place names etc is to say them over and over a couple of times as fast as you can - whatever you end up with is pretty close. Try it with Worcestershire.

National Geographic Launches 'Foods of the World' Site; Not Impressed

It is basically a shopping site thinly disgiused as an info site. There is absolutely nothing wrong with selling stuff on any site, but if billed as an info site it needs more info. They would have done better to make it an upfront sales site with info about the products. Many people, myself included if I'm honest, like to be able to talk about the history, local culture, etc., etc. of what they are eating (or wearing .....).

I picked the UK shopping, since I am from the UK for my test of the products. Many of the products listed none, or only some of the weights for the products in the gift packages. Plus some of the descriptions were rather odd. Stilton which is so totally yummy certainly does not have a honeyed, cheddary flavour (Taste of Britain).

Hot Dog Bun Grilling Jig

Does this contraption toast the buns evenly? Looks to me like the edge closest to the grill would toast faster.
