Vegetarians: What dish could (briefly) turn you back to meat?
For me, it was the Chef's Tasting Menu at The French Laundry.
Just curious!

I would walk 12 miles for Thomas Keller's lamb tenderloin.
No, I'd walk farther.
AND I'm a vegetarian.
I have a couple Wolfgang Puck saucepans and I really enjoy cooking with them. They are a little bit on the heavy side, but they hold up very well. Plus, I purchased them at Marshalls for a great discount!
One time I came home from the dentist when I was in second grade and I threw up my ham sandwich. To this day I tell people I'm allergic to ham. And the dentist has NO FLUORIDE written in big, red letters on my file because that's what actually caused me to be sick. However, I can't even catch a whiff of ham without my gag reflex kicking in.
Wish Cereal: PLAIN Cheerios
Real Life: PLAIN Cheerios
When I lived in a public dorm, the cafeteria provided an assortment of breakfast cereals in large bins. There was a clearly marked HONEY NUT Cheerio bin and a completely separate PLAIN Cheerio bin. However, they often poured whichever type of Cheerio they had into whichever bin looked low. Nothing ruined my day more than anticipating PLAIN Cheerios and receiving HONEY NUT. The raw frustration I often felt still exists today.
I really enjoy Taverna in the Warehouse District. I am also vegetarian, but eat fish occasionally and have never had a problem there.
Margherita pizza with fresh roma tomatoes. But when I eat caprese, I have no problems. I also have severe acid reflux disease at age 21, so pretty much everything hits me at some point.
I believe that on Top Chef one of the contestants made cheesy grits and topped them with bacon-wrapped shrimp. To the best of my knowledge, Tre made that dish. Hope it helps!
for the love of cheeseburgers. maaan, i'd fly there to have some.
I'm in the Army and we walk 12 miles before breakfast. Usually only takes us less than 4 hours. After that though we usually go to the nearest Mege-all you can eat-buffet.
I would walk that far for a slice of pizza from my childhood pizza joint in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, without a doubt. If someone could re-create my favorite Italian restaurant in Brooklyn (closed for several years now) - Mama Turrey's - I would walk that far for their Spinach Canneloni.
I want to know if the burger was worth the walk though!
Slippery ham pot pie... heaven in a bowl... basically, a stew with thick, doughy homemade noodles. Here's the description from Wikipedia:
In the Pennsylvania Dutch region, there is a dish called "bott boi" by Deitsh-speaking natives and is mispronounced "pot pie" by English speakers in the area. This dish is sometimes referred to as "slippery noodle pot pie" to distinguish it from the true pie form of pot pie. Bott Boi is a stew, usually made of a combination of chicken, ham, beef, or wild game with square-cut egg noodles, potatoes, and a healthy stock of onion, optional celery and/or carrots, and parsley. Bouillon is sometimes used to enhance the flavor. The egg noodles are often made from scratch from flour, eggs, salt (optional) and water.
they could make a stoner movie out of this premise. come to think of it - he does look the part...
@shalomblack: slippery ham pot pie? i must know. this is hilarious.
Why doesn't Clarambeau just jump in the news van? Why doesn't Grylls just eat his cameraman's Powerbar stash?
LOL.
If I actually had to walk 12 miles for something, I'd eat something really greasy and caloric, like an authentic Philly cheesesteak.
Mmmmm cheesesteak.
@kenjialtci: I thought the same thing. Figured it must have been a reenactment. Like the way Bear Grylls does his thing in Man vs. Wild. Why doesn't Clarambeau just jump in the news van? Why doesn't Grylls just eat his cameraman's Powerbar stash?
Don't know about doing anything specifically to get something, but I did ride my bike an extra 50 miles or so (total 150 miles) to get a croissant from Buchon Bakery....and damn was it good. I also regularly do a 100 mile ride in Marin specifically so I can visit the cowgirl creamery, a few bakeries I like, or Pizzeria Picco.
