The Vegan Experience, Day 4: What Cuisine Types Are Most Vegan-Friendly?

Another thing to look out for in Chinese and Japanese cuisine other than egg is oyster sauce, and bonito. These things can often be found in their food and sometimes they don't consider fish "meat" so they consider these items to be vegetarian. Also, Vietnamese and Thai often have fish sauce/paste in their items, so you have to ask what's in their sauces.

As a vegetarian who mostly eats vegan, I'm finding this project very interesting.

Everything I eat is vegetarian, if not vegan.. but I think one of my favorite meals is an African Peanut and Kale stew.

Have You Ever Tried to Quit Diet Soda?

I quit a few months ago. To help with the cravings I drink lemon lime sparkling water and Honest Tea instead. Things taste a lot sweeter now and I'm pretty happy not drinking as much soda as I had been.

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: The Sriracha Lover's Ultimate Gift Pack

I was just thinking today "is there anything that isn't better with a bunch of Sriracha on it?"

I like to put it on my pho, stir fry, fried rice, noodles, egg rolls, spring rolls, potatoes.. pretty much anything.

Vegetarians, How Do You Do Thanksgiving?

I'm planning on making some hearty lentil loaf type thing (haven't found a recipe yet, but I've got a good idea of what I want) along with some vegetarian gravy, mashed potatoes and probably some green beans.

Zeeks Pizza: Seattle's Decent Mini-Chain Inspires Deep Pizza Thoughts

You should have tried Pagliacci.. so much better in my opinion. As for the peppers.. they're probably Mama Lil's Pickled Hungarian Goathorn peppers. In Seattle, they love to put those on everything it seems.. not that I'm complaining!

Cook the Book: 'My Last Supper'

I would want my last meal to be a big family dinner as prepared by my grandmother, with turkey, stuffing, mashed carrots/turnips, perogies, cabbage rolls, etc and pie and ice cream for dessert. I would love to enjoy the meal with my entire family as I did when I was younger, with the addition of my husband of course.

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'The Fortune Cookie Chronicles'

My most memorable fortune cookie came from some restaurant in Denver, in the Cherry Creek neighborhood. I was there with my now husband and a bunch of his friend's friends. The fortune I received said something along the lines of "You will become heir to a kingdom in Europe". It never came true, but the best thing about that evening is that he who is now my husband and I received the EXACT SAME FORTUNE. Like it was meant to be. Awwww.

Cook the Book: 'Panini Express'

I haven't had a panini in quite sometime, but I would have to say my favorite is turkey ham, swiss & mustard. Or grilled veggies & almost any kind of cheese, provolone maybe?

Weekend Book Giveaway: 'Trail of Crumbs'

I would have to say, when I'm stressed out I crave carbs mostly. Bread, chips, pasta, fries, perogies. Also chocolate. Lots of chocolate.

Cook the Book: Win a Copy of 'Cook with Jamie'

My father pretty much taught me how to cook. I remember Saturday afternoons would be spent watching cooking shows on tv, this was before the Food Netowrk was around. I think we'd mostly watch shows on PBS. Also my grandmother to a certain extent taught me how to cook as I spent a lot of time with her growing up. She'd always be cooking or baking something and I could often be found there right beside her helping out. Oddly enough, my mother wasn't the best cook.
