wow so many comments and nobody has mentioned french fries yet??

the real ones like at Balthazar or the ones in a paper cone in Belgium/Holland...from fresh potatoes hand cut (no skin pls) double fried and nice tangy mayo to dip in...any time any day...cant wait ti try out the new frying dutchman truck....

The Perfect Fried Egg Sandwich

sunday morning
toast some whole wheat bread, fry bacon until really crispy, drain the most of the fat, throw few slices of good tomatoes in the remaining bacon fat add lots of pepper, take tomatoes out when soft and then fry in the same pan the eggs, slightly runny, put all on the toast and you are in heaven!! a BET sandwich..

Tell Your Asparagus Story

Anyone ever had the pleasure to eat white asparagus? They are so delicious!! Simply boiled, with some hollandaise sauce, hard boiled eggs and sliced ham...in season in Holland (& Germany) every year for about 6 weeks right now..I am Dutch, grew up with it and so want to jump on a plane to get them, fresh from the farm. The only veggie i really get excited about. (pls dont tell me that Whole Foods sells them, those tiny stalks from Peru are pathetic!)

oh btw, they are white but have the same effect...;o))

What to dip my french fries in...

in the Netherlands we usually eat fries with mayo, but our special fries are with mayo, curryketchup and raw onions, not mixed into one sauce, but you just sweep the fries through the different sauces. delicious. another one: fries mayo and peanut butter satay sauce! want to try? go check out http://www.pommesfrites.ws/ (2nd ave, NYC): best (Belgium) fries with huge nr of dipping sauces
