Thanks for the input! As for Loreley, do they have more seating than just that general bar area? It looks like Radegast has the actual covered garden that people can sit in, even during the winter.

Nutritional Yeast- How do you use it?

when I was in france last summer, we ate freshly picked carrots and dipped them in a paste made of soy sauce and nutritional yeast. salty goodness!

Loreley or Radegast? Which W'burg biergarten do you prefer?

Hey all,

I've done some research on my own, but am curious about both of these biergartens for a casual birthday party on a Saturday night...will probably have a group of between 10-15 at any given time. Important qualities include: cheap and delicious options for food and drink, space, and a fun atmosphere.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hello friends. It's my birthday! I know there have been similar postings about this, but I've searched them all and haven't found what I'm looking for.

I'm going out to dinner tonight with 10-12 friends...we want something on the cheap side, accommodating large groups, good drink selection, casual...

Any suggestions would be welcome, as I'm having trouble being decisive. Ideas so far are Radegast in W'burg and Bogota in Park Slope.

Bulk Sherbet...in Brooklyn?

I'm catering a baby shower in a few weeks, and am making a retro sherbet/ginger ale punch for the beverage. I stopped by my local C-Town to check out their sherbet selection...they carried Krasdale brand, which would be fine except that it has high fructose corn syrup and I'm trying to avoid that if possible.

On the hunt for fresh apple cider!

I'm looking to travel to any of the five boroughs for some really delicious and fresh apple cider. I need to do this sometime during the next few days, so unfortunately I think that rules out some farmer's markets.

Any suggestions or recommendations? I'm going to be cooking with the cider and I want it to be top notch and local.

Tonight I am making a calzone with figs and goat cheese, and beer in the pizza dough! Also will probably make a fig compote for the sauce.

I'm having trouble figuring out what type of beer to use...any suggestions?

Le Brooklyn Supper Club

It's Saturday night and you want to throw a dinner party with delicious food, but lack the foodie friends who would appreciate the time, money, and significance of the meal. It sucks, doesn't it? Might as well order pizza again. Extra cheese, please. Or perhaps you would like to meet new people who share your food philosophy and might teach you new culinary traditions. Whatever the scenario might be, Le Brooklyn Supper Club hopes to fill your empty stomach with something wholesome.

Le Brooklyn Supper Club is looking for diverse people who:
--love food,
--have a food ethic: those who seek sustainable, organic, and free-range ingredient options
--open for trying new cuisines, ingredients, etc: not too picky or with restrictive diets
--in South Brooklyn:

Le Brooklyn Supper Club Logistics:
-- limited members to 8-10
-- meet the second Saturday of the month at a member's home
-- theme nights or seasonal ingredient nights, potluck, etc.
-- contribution of 5-10 dollars that goes to the host in order to curb cost
-- wine/beer/etc sign up in lieu of money
-- RSVP required in order to know the amount of food needed etc.

About Us: The founders, Lisa and Nicole, are twenty-something ladies in Brooklyn who have built a friendship on food and wish to meet others that share our love for good food for body and conscience.

Write to Us: Since the membership is so limited, please write an email introducing yourself. It may include information about your favorite food memory, favorite dish, ingredient, culinary book, show, etc. and why you are interested in the Supper Club. Fried chicken in a...wok?

Hi everyone!

I'm gonna be venturing into the world of fried chicken in a couple days, but I have one problem. I don't have a cast-iron skillet or a heavy pot. I have a few saute pans, a stainless steel stock pot, and a wok. Which should I use?

Also, any ideas for a splatter guard substitution? Eek!

AHH! What happened to my rice pudding?!

Hello all,

So, I made rice pudding for the first time last night, and...it was delicious! Creamy and flavorful, I thought I had nailed it. That is, until I opened the container of leftovers tonight. It's like one solid mass of rice and...pudding? I don't know what happened. Maybe it wasn't creamy enough to begin with? Maybe I cooked it too long initially?

I used basmati rice, whole milk, a bit of coconut milk, and spices.

Any ideas?

Dry White Wine for Delicious Risotto?

I'll be attempting my first risotto tonight for my cooking vlog. It'll be of the wild mushroom variety, based on a Mark Bittman recipe. What dry white wines do you use when making risotto? General and specific answers welcome!! I'm looking to get something on the cheap.

How is it that someone with an "-ski" last name has not been to Greenpoint for Polish food after 2.5 years in Brooklyn? You tell me.
