Mixed Review: How to Make Cake Balls

Another version similar to this (and imho, better) is to take a package of Oreos, dump them in the blender/food processor to pulverize (yes, frosting and all), and then mix in one package of room-temp cream cheese. Form mixture into balls, then refrigerate (roughly an hour, but overnight is fine too) and then dip into your melted chocolate. Viola! Not cloyingly sweet, and oh how delicious - rather similar to brownies, but with a little more oomph from the cream cheese.

Help me keep my pizza dough stretched please

I roll mine out with a rolling pin on some parchment paper, which allows me to get it quite thin, and it sticks just enough to the parchment paper that it doesn't "stretch back." Then I just top the pizza and put it (along with the parchment paper) into the oven on top of my pizza stone. Works great!

What to Eat and Drink on St. Patrick's Day

I made a whiskey pie for a friend's birthday today, and that seems like something that would fit right in this list. Simply add a few tablespoons of green food coloring right before pouring it into the pie shell for a lovely green color! (Note: while the pie got rave reviews from all the traders he works with, the alcohol taste was still present in this adult treat - next time I would cut down the whiskey by about 2 tablespoons.)

* 5 egg yolks
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
* 1/4 cup boiling water
* 1/2 cup good Irish or Bourbon Whiskey (*minus about 2 tbs)
* 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
* 1 large pre-baked cooled pie shell or graham cracker crust
* shaved chocolate

1. beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored
2. slowly beat in sugar
3. dissolve gelatin in boiling water
4. when completely dissolved, add 1/4 cup whiskey
5. add gelatin mixture to egg/sugar mixture while stirring very quickly
6. add remaining whiskey , stirring quickly
7. whip cream until semi-soft, semi-firm peaks form
8. add 1 cup or more whipped cream to egg/whiskey mixture and fold until well blended
9. pour into pie shell and chill about 2 hours or until set
10. sprinkle chocolate shavings on top and then decorate border with remaining whipped cream
