Paula Deen's jewelry
Never, i cant cook with even a ring on!
If alone which is very rare, i would get a fresh loaf of bread with different kind of cheese, some sliced tomatoes and cucumbers and of course a bottle of chianti, all for myself.
I wear latex gloves all the time. I mean, ALL THE TIME. I hate to smell or feel anything on my hands. If it is protein, its gloves. Bread dough, gloves. The only thing I don't mind is washing and prepping vegetables/fruit. Other than that, I am safely hidden in latex.
A pint of ice cream! (I can't believe no one else has said that..... :-(
Otherwise...eggs or creative grilled cheese.....using whatever bread, cheese, veggies or fruit I have on hand.
This is such an ironic thread for me because I just got engaged last weekend and have been debating this question. I'm completely paranoid about losing it (I have a history of losing jewelery) but I also don't want to be cleaning raw ground meat out of the setting. Yuck.
I love all of my jewelry. I firmly believe in wearing some combination every day including my wedding set and a 6k aquamarine. You have it for enjoyment, so enjoy away! I must admit, all rings come off when diving into any type of ground meat. My simple solution to not losing them: I keep a cheap jar of jewelry cleaner in my kitchen cupboard, and that is the ONLY place I put them when cooking. Instead of harboring yucky meat residue, my rings get a mini sparkle treatment.
My husband is always home, so I am never alone. However, I do cook for myself every once in a while. When I'm hungry, I just make enough for myself. Or if I am not in the mood for what he's made for dinner, I'll prep my own thing since I'm too lazy to go out and get some pho alone and fight for a close parking space on the street when I get back.
Like Markbb, I make ramen (Myojo chukazanmai only) with shrimp, mustard cabbage or spinach, kamaboko, Spam, sriracha, and a raw, unbeaten yolk on top. Their soup bases usually have sesame oil in them, so that's taken care of.
There are times when I'm just in the mood for cereal. So cereal and milk.
Beef jerky.
It's not a great dinner idea, but that's just me. :D
I eat alone most nights and I try to include a protein choice with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I make refrigerator bran muffins, so it's easy to bake just one in an oiled custard cup. Mostly, I enjoy combination vegetable salads with a spicy vinaigrette.
About once a month, I buy the roasted chicken at the market , or roast one myself and I'm making a list of all the ways one can serve it. One chicken gives me at least four dinners and stock.
My budget only includes wine if I have guests and I try not to use any processed foods, mixes or products that have a "list" of additives. In winter, I use a lot of tinned tomatoes. Chilled, the diced ones are better in salad than the tasteless fresh ones.
Canned beans, lentils or split peas can be used for great crockpot meals. I like setting it up in the morning so dinner is almost ready when I get home
Cheese enchiladas with fried eggs on top or fish tacos. He doesn't like either so it's a special treat for me.
Paula has some serious bling. I don't think I could cook with all that on. I"m sure I'd blind myself or whomever was in the room with me at some point.
I keep my wedding set, watch and diamond solitare necklace on at all times. I rarely wear earrings, but do take them out if I'm working at my 2nd job in a camp kitchen. I think all VISIBLE piercings should come out of their respective holes in public kitchens, but at home it is totally a personal preference.
I had the diamond in my first engagement ring lowered because the setting was high and I kept getting guck under it. Said diamond now graces my neckline as a reminder of where I've been and how far I've come since the first marriage....the second wedding set has lots more diamonds in it and I'm not anticipating any marital woes this time around so they shall remain on the ring eternally. If only I hadn't lost one of the diamond earrings I wore on my wedding day. :(
MommyBITTER always said it was gross to wear jewelry while cooking. The food could get stuck up under the jewelry and start to smell.
i had a big bowl of romaine lettuce with half an avocado and some leftover roasted aparagus with a mustard vinaigrette, followed by some fried ripe plaintains and potatoes with ketchup and creme fraiche. i live alone so i get to eat weird food every night.
