I'm new and so were you at one time. Help me be a good member.

Bleu, welcome! I to lurked in the background for a while. I don't comment all that often, as I still feel a bit new to the group. It's a great group here (and hopefully one that'll respectfully inform you, if you accidentally blunder - jump on me if I'm wrong!), so sit back, post, and enjoy!

At 31, I still love pandas! My 21-year-old stuffed panda can attest to that!!!

The Nasty Bits: Tongue Tied

Going to do anything on poultry feet? There's a supermarket where i live that had some and am curious as to what they're used for.

Strange food phobias?

Also hate steak and kidney. Love steak; just don't mix it in with kidney...

Strange food phobias?

I got put off egg sandwiches once, because there was egg shell mixed in with the egg. I also can't stand tuna sandwiches if the bones are still in the tuna.

Swine Flu: Can You Still Eat Pork? All Signs Point to Yes

Welcome Postie! I thought Swine flu was caught from infected people; NOT from eating the pork... I'm certainly not changing my eating habits because of this.

What do you collect?

lots of different things. The only food related thing I collect though, is recipes. Recipe books, recipes from magazines/newspapers... I get real satisfaction out of looking through recipe books. It's actually come in handy, as I'm in the process of making a recipe book for a friend.

One Dozen Trader Joe's Eggs, Each with a Double Yolk

I had a double yolk in one of the eggs i was cooking up at work for lunch the other day.

weird reasons for not trying certain foods?

I've a problem with plain milk. flavored milk's fine; but not plain. think it might've had something to do with some i drank when i was a kid (that put me off).

You live where?

I don't have a ___ in my kitchen and I don't want one.

dishwasher, coffee maker (only drink hot chocolate!), whisk (that's what a fork is for), deep fryer, lettuce knife (never heard of one before this thread, and your bare hands do just as well anyway)

The Baracktail

@ Gizmosma, I'm with you. Do you think the man can live up to all the hype? We're probably getting as much 'down under' as you guys are!

Mint Chocolate: Way or No Way?

Yup. Chocolate with mint 'chips' in them. There's a brand of chocolate here in New Zealand that makes it and the mint chips are probably green, mint-flavored hokey pokey. That and After Eight.

absentminded kitchen disasters

Try preparing dinner with a swollen and sore foot! I had to do that the other night, as I'd taken out the food scraps to the compost bin (in bare feet, as it's summer in the southern hemisphere) and stood on a bee. To make matters worse -- I had a job interview later in the evening :( Probably straying a little from the thread, I know...

Pizza With a Knife & Fork?

I eat a pizza both ways (sometimes with a knife & fork, sometimes with my hands) - You eat it however you want to! ;)
And if others tell you otherwise, tough on them.

What do foodies do?

On a medical benefit, voluntary work in the community and occasionally looking for paid employment... "boring" stuff compared to some of you guys! (@ you FastFoodCritic! ;-) )

From A Hamburger Today

The Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt, a Bacon Burger with Two Bacon-Stuffed Grilled Cheese Sandwiches as Bun

That double looks droolingly hardcore! I'd definitely go for one (or more...) of those in the 'perfect world' - definitely with you on that perfect world, shipwreck & WannabeTVchef!

From A Hamburger Today

12-Year Old McDonald's Hamburger, Still Looking Good

I remember something like this on a current affairs program here in New Zealand some time ago - kinda put me off McD's burgers...
