Buying a Cow
So some friends and I are buying a cow. Suggestions on how I should divvy it up?
I want to get a little bit of everything - If you were in my situation, what would you request??
I love to eat and love to make food to eat.
I love mine~ It is really awesome when doing a fondue type. Makes the cheese super smooth and delish.
The ones I cannot live without are onion powder, garlic powder, dill, S&P, cumin and dried mustard. YUM.
I love Grape Nuts heated with milk and just a little bit of honey. That's what I grew up on instead of oatmeal.
My husband is a loud eater...i.e. really voices his opinion on how good/bad the food tastes. I know I've done a good job when there are Mmmm sounds and a little less conversation because we are busy eating. :)
I get the sausage egg biscuit and add cheese. Gonna have to try this. Good idea for a greasy hangover cure!
The processor will grind beef for us too, which is nice. Any favorite blends?
There are 6 of us. We plan on just kinda looking at who wants what, then being fair about it. No use in getting into a tiff over a cow...or is it?
Thank you thank you!!!
My top priority was good knives, but I am still learning how to use them well. My fiance' graduated from culinary school and is still working with me on those skills!
This is the best. SE readers really know their stuff!
Kraft Mac N Cheese - SHAPES!!!
Cheese sandwiches w/ mayo.
Ice Pops
Life Cereal
Great Post!
Mini hot browns (bruschetta type). YUM.
Pass spanikopita, do a play on breakfast sausage meatballs...
I love some shrimp tacos!
My summertime drink is vodka, sprite with a splash of cranberry and an orange. I promise you won't be disappointed! And Sundays in KY, they don't serve until 1, so that is usually my starting point on the weekends if I'm having an early night.
$260 dollars for 2, four course fondue with wine. Mmmm.
I love my butcher block and knife set. ~sigh~
Worked at PF Changs - Wok Seared Lamb was usually served on lettuce. I subbed double pan fried noodles underneath and used a little bit of the extra lamb sauce. OHMYGOD so good.
Another there was Mongolian Beef - get shrimp and scallops instead and add white mushrooms.
They make you anything you ask for there.
Chili only when it's "chilly" out.
I am 25, about to be married to a culinary school graduate! We love to go out to eat, and I am slowly but surely learning how to cook. It's gonna take a bit, but I love doing it so much and getting the satisfaction of making a finished product that tastes delicious!!
This thread is great!
BRUNCH ROCKS!
Wahhh! I loved learning so much from that show. I do own some of the DVDs and they are AWESOME!
Nomnomnom!
Cannot wait for the Trader Joe's to come to my town! Before you know it, I'll be back telling stories about my good eats!
@korovka - Those Frontera sauces look yummy. I too, like that you can see the actual ingredients at the bottom of the package.
Thanks - I figured some people would find no interest in me asking about pre-boxed meals, but this is very helpful.
I really do try to cook on special days, when I can get fresh ingredients, etc. But being realistic, somedays, these type of things work best when I want to get it done and be able to watch my favorite shows.

I'm getting married in two months, and have registered for tons of kitchen appliances/gadgets. I don't want to miss out on the ones that you normally wouldn't think of.
What kitchen appliance/gadget can you not live without??
My fiance' and I love, love, love the Old El Paso enchiladas kits with just a pound of ground beef and sauteed onions. Are there others that are easy to make, using only an add on ingredient (i.e. chicken breast, beef, pork) that aren't totally disgusting?? I lack time and cooking skills. :)
Or any QUICK ideas for meals that I don't have to be totally creative with?
I have a party to attend tonight, and everyone has their signature apps they bring to every event. I am tired of the same stuff every time. I need an app recipe that is EASY and quick and travels well, that will blow everyone away.
Ready, set, go!
I have developed a new hobby for cooking my fiance' and myself yummy dinners/ready to go lunches. I feel like I am constantly at the grocery, getting one or two ingredients. I am starting to really develop my spice cabinet, and have some key ingredients for several dishes. I want MORE! :) I want to know what you ALWAYS have in your fridge/cupboard/cabinet/counter, etc that you use most often that will help with creating a meal without constantly going by the market (of course, getting fresh ingredients will always be cause for a trip to market).
I feel like many cooks have the staple pantry items - what's on your pantry must-have list?
I am a huge fan of dips for appetizers and want to find a great recipe for queso that isn't just rotel and velveeta. And-the perfect tortilla chip? Help!
The Bluegrass State may be better known for the Colonel's fried chicken, but it has plenty of good pizza to offer. Louisville has a number of celebrated pizzerias, but some of the best pies can be found at restaurants that don't specialize in pizza. Outside of Louisville, you can find VPN-certified pies as well as a pizzeria that caters mostly to rock-climbers. More
My friend's husband was diagnosed with celiac's. It is men too, I think though that they dont want to give up all the yummy breads and foods.
