Any ideas for good mexican place in middle to upper westside?

taqueria el fondo is on amsterdam and 107. it is pretty darn authentic and cheap but it's cafeteria setting; probably not a saturday night date kind of place. everything is delicious!

Keep the Neighborhood Italian Restaurants Coming

I really like Max Soha on 1274 Amsterdam Avenue at 123rd street. It is very reasonable and it is an off the boat Italian family run restaurant. The portions are huge and very reasonable. I love the lasagna that comes in a giant pan--there's no way anyone could eat that at one sitting---the broccoli rabe is good too. If you feel like venturing uptown--this spot is a gem in an up and coming neighborhood.

Mama Mexico on 102nd & Broadway. I haven't been there in a while, but the guacamole was excellent (prepared tableside to your preference) as was everything else. I gotta get back down to the city . . .

Calle Ocho on Columbus and 82nd (more South American regional than Mexcian, but delicious and great atmosphere). Mama Mexico on 102nd and Broadway (so good, and a mariachi band).

Gabriela's is great for Yucatan Mexican. Their rotisserie chicken is delectable. The atmosphere is festive and it is fairly inexpensive..It is in the 90's and amsterdam I think.
