So good... so terrible...
Cook the Book: 'Bobby Flay's Burgers, Fries & Shakes'
Best burger I ever had was at this little Mom & Pop place in the middle of nowhere. It had "50's sauce" (some sort of thousand island dressing?), cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and dill pickle, and the burger itself was juicy and delicious. Oh, and it came with seasoned lattice fries. SO GOOD
Cook the Book: Eugenia Bone's 'Well-Preserved'
Tomatoes, of course, and zucchini sweet pickle relish...mmmmmmm

Going to have to go with ham/pickle rollups. Slice of ham, smear of cream cheese, with a dill pickle rolled up in the middle. Awesome.

Corn chowder. Or really, most soups.
Cook the Book: 'Baking Unplugged'
Making monkey bread for the first time by myself in my very first apartment. I didn't have the bunt pan that my mom's recipe called for, so I just baked it in a square 9x9. Which, as you can probably guess, was WAY too small. As it baked, the gooey, caramel "glue" of the cake bubbled out over the top and burned horribly all over the sides of the pan, welding itself permanently to the floor of the oven and the heating element. And while the outside was incredibly burned, the interior was completely raw. I had to throw it out, pan and all. I'm still surprised I got my security deposit back after they saw that oven...

My favorite was Twinkie cake made by my mom. Chocolate cake sliced in half with her secret "Twinkie" filling. I haven't outgrown it, but now that I know exactly what's in that filling, I only eat it about once a year.

It's all about the peanut butter kiss cookies. It's just so satisfying to press a chocolate kiss into the top of a just baked peanut butter cookie and see it melt just the perfect amount.
Also, you get to eat all the kisses with broken off points!
