About 2 weeks ago my BF and I went to a bar near our house that we go to fairly regularly. It's a fairly midscale bar - not just a beer and Jagerbombs kind of place. It was a weeknight (only 5 or 6 other people there - they already had their orders) and there was a new bartender. BF ordered a Campari and soda. After checking the beer fridge (!) she told us they were out of that kind of beer and maybe we'd like a Sierra Nevada instead. After we very nicely explained that Campari wasn't a beer and that there was an entire bottle on the shelf behind her, she then poured straight Campari into a shot glass. When BF reminded her that he wanted club soda to go with the Campari, she looked around for a couple of minutes and then said she didn't have any soda. We pointed out that there might be some in the gun right next to her. Her response - "I don't know how to use that thing!" We got up and left. I talked to the manager a couple of days later and he was very apologetic, said he'd had tons of other complaints, but was trying to help out a friend. A nice sentiment, but we now check to see who's working the bar before we go there for drinks.

I also once spent 5 minutes trying to convince a waiter that pinot grigio and pinot noir were not the same thing and that he had, in fact, brought me the wrong glass of wine.
