Reading cookbooks

i love cookbooks too. i think it really escapes many people who are not in to food why you would sit and read a bunch of recipes that you may or may not ever make! But i have to also say, im also a big menu reader. pretty much anything food related really...

Let's talk nuts!

since ive had to cut out a lot of sugary snacks, nuts have become a mainstay. I eat em on their own (macs, cashews, almonds, peanuts, oooh pecans), and i use them in every recipe i can. i find that almonds can go in to everything. i love them in a basil pesto instead of pine nuts... and pecans are fantastic in any kind of cookie (even low sugar ones!). Cashews are delicious slightly roasted and cool. I think nuts r close to a perfect food.

30 yr-old banker in NYC. I love to cook and eat but can't always find for cooking. Luckily, my husband loves to cook as well and is a fantastic cook. So for now, I'm sticking with eating! We love to travel and trying new ingredients or cuisines.

My accomplishments are homemade ice cream, spicy kimchee fried rice, and one pot clam bake. I would love to learn how to make pasta from scratch.

I work at an independent record label in NYC, and a record store part-time. Most of the folks in my fast-paced line of work eat so unhealthfully (and untastefully!) that it makes me cringe, but I keep comments to myself. In my world of limited labor-of-love salaries, cooking most of my own food is a huge money-saver, even if it means getting up early, no matter how late I was out at a rock show the night before... Thanks for this question - it's very interesting to hear about everyone's different lives/occupations!

It's not a profession, but I also have this blog about fruits and vegetables: Produce Stories
