CSA's

the CSA that i belong to (CSA California) is a little unusual, in that they are sort of a middle-man and get their produce from as many as five or six different farms. i get a basket every other week so that i can go to the farmers market myself in between in case there's anything i'm missing. the variety is great.

the best suggestion i can give you is to ask the CSA what was in the last week's box/basket. that will give you an idea of what sort of variety you might get. some CSA's that friends of mine have tried, they got nothing but kale, chard, mustard greens, collards, etc. week after week. which is great once in a while, but it's an awful lot of monotony.

the best part of a CSA for me is the challenge, it's like i'm on an episode of Chopped or something and have to come up with ways to use whatever ingredients are given to me. kind of fun.
