Shopping for spices online
My favorite, even though I have a Penzey's retail outlet fairly near me, is Savory Spice Shop (www.savoryspiceshop.com) in Colorado. They have a huge assortment of spices, including rare ones, wonderful blends, and sell from 1/2 oz to 1 lb of most of them. They grind fresh several times a week, and have wonderful support staff. Even though you particularly mention bulk buying, I love being able to get small amounts of things I haven't tried yet, so love the 1/2 oz option. Growing your own is great for tender herbs, but kind of tough for many spices.
Yet Another Food Blog: help me name it
OK, now I'm nervous. First time poster, and not because I'm shy, but because I haven't had anything to say. I read lots of blogs/food sites, but hadn't realized, except for the no spamming, no commercial posting, that there was etiquette, except general politeness. If this is a community, shouldn't we be more welcoming?
the GOOD HUMOR ICE CREAM truck!
I cant believe nobody has mentioned the good Humor chocolate malt pop - chocolate malt ice cream with a chocolate shell and crunchies in the shell. For those of you from the New York metro area, does anyone remember the Dugan's truck? I still Jones for their cupcakes with butter cream icing.

The Lobster Roll on Sound Avenue in Riverhead has great seafood, and is one of the few places you can still get blowfish (also known as Chicken of the Sea, not to be confused with the tuna of the same name. If you continue east, you'll run into Pindar, Martha Clara, Paumanok, and all the other good east-end vinyards. To my knowledge, there are only two on the south fork, Duck Walk and Channing Daughters, so work your way east on the North Fork. There's also a good seafood house on the dock in Greenport.
