Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: Garrison Confections' Garrison Big Box

Depends on what it's for. Mostly I like Milk for just eating and Dark for inclusion in desserts.

Definitely pliant. You need to savor the fat!

Cook the Book: 'Think Like a Chef'

Braising. Although deep frying if I could more often without seriously endangering my health.

Walking into the Grocery..wanting a cheap bottle of wine...

Protocolo is a great South American red with a little spice to it. Usually I see it for around $8.

As a kid, I liked to drink______

We drank the cheaper version of Kool-Aid--Wyler's. And for special occasions, like camping, we might get store brand Red Pop. I did drink plenty of water from the garden hose, too. :)

Where's everybody from?

Columbus, OH. I mostly shop at Whole Foods or the Wild Oats (probably soon to be closed when bought by Whole Foods) or Sunflower Marketplace, but the more conveniently located Krogers and Giant Eagles still fit the bill when I just need some staples. We also have The North Market, a conglomeration of local shops, farmers, artisans, which is great for specialty foods.

What one food are you ashamed to admit you like?

Cherry licorice and Peeps.

What can't you cook after, trying over and over again?

Pancakes. Seems the temperature is never quite right for me and they just don't come out round.

Question of the Day: What are your hometown favorite eats?

I'm from the extremely tiny village of Sunfield, MI (while actually, a township--read farm land-- outside of it, but close enough), so the only place to go is the Old Timers' bar, where they do have quite good wet burritos. I do enjoy a good wet burrito (with so much sauce and cheese piled one shouldn't think about the calories being ingested), and I've only encountered them once outside of MI.

Question of the Day: Memorable fortune cookies ...

I actually have a wall at work where we put our favorite fortune cookies...

"Come back later, I'm sleeping (yes, fortune cookies need their sleep too)"

"A crab wonton a day keeps the doctor away" - we have two of those

"42.7 percent of all statics are made up on the spot"

and my personal favorite: "Never smell the inside of a hat"

I prefer dark chocolate. It has more flavor and makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body as well because of the antioxidants! :)
