Do You Have A Weird Pizza Eating Habit?

Plain pizza gets covered (and I mean covered) in dried minced garlic (like this http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/willowdog/willowdog0806/willowdog080600022/3141149-dried-minced-garlic.jpg)

Never seen it in a normal grocery store, but my local butcher shop has it. Pick some up whenever I visit my folks.

Guide to Grilling: Controlling Flare-ups

Water doesn't put out grease fires. The grease stays separate from the water, but the water allows it to move. Grease fires are put out by suffocation or non-water methods.

Never putting water on a grease fire is a basic tenet of cooking safety.

Video: Jim 'No-Knead Bread' Lahey Reviews Domino's New-Recipe Pizza

Dominos is better than all but like, 3 of the pizza places in my county. 2 of which are over 20min away. Talk about inedible pizza, come down to Maryland and I'll have you try some. Hell, I lied, 4 of the pizza places, if you count the bowling alley. The state of pizza here is awful. So yea, dominos is often where I hit when I have a pizza craving, its more of a guilty pleasure than 'real' food, but you know what? I'd still occasionally order Dominos when I could drive 10minutes for delicious new haven pizza. It's just a different kind of food.

That is what they are, because that is the name of the drink. People have tried to rename it, but nothing else sticks.

Serious Eats NYC-Boston Road Trip: Suggestions Needed

Looks like you are taking 15 (the parkway) in that pic. Do not do so if you are anywhere close to commuting hours. In fact, I would never take 15, always 95. Mohegan is waaaaaaaaaay out of the way if you do go there.

Reins NY Style deli north of Hartford is definitely worth a stop. Also, if you hit New Haven for Pizza, check out Bar Pizza. Very good under-praised pizzeria (must try the clam pie and the mashed potato pie, and the salad is delicious) and they brew their own beer in house.

Serious Cheese: Know Your Microbes

Paragraph of win.

So, next time you pick up a piece of cheese, think of the huge microbial society that's gone to the trouble of producing the masterpiece in front of you. Then you can pretend you're Godzilla or something when you eat the cheese, with thousands of screaming microbes fleeing for the escape capsules. At least, that's what I do.

Blizzard Food

We had a veritable feast. Last night we made tacos (the lazy way with packaged seasoning) and brownies (also the lazy way). This morning we had crepes. Then for lunch we had my friends 'greek-style' chicken. For dinner we had chocolate cake >.> http://www.cooksrecipes.com/cake/french_chocolate_hazelnut_cake_recipe.html

Chicken:
1 package of boneless skinless chicken thighs (6 pieces). Season with sea salt, garlic powder, and oregano. Squeeze juice of one lime over top. Bake at 350, flipping and re-seasoning about halfway through (another half a lime or so too). We seasoned some pasta the same way, with the addition of a bit of olive oil (and lighter on the lime). And had it with greek salad... Yum.

Tomorrow perhaps buffalo chicken taquitos, unless we decide on tacos again... not sure

Haha, I only get pizza on the weekends, and then its 1 pie = breakfast lunch and dinner. But if I was going to go out for pizza I'd either get 1slice+salad or 2 slices.

Serious Eats HQ Got New Sporks

I have one of these, my roommates mom got them on the internet and sent them to us. You can hurt yourself on the knife part, but you kind of have to be clutzy to do so. Meaning, I've done so, and my roommate was all O.o how did you do that... Since I hurt myself on it, I've been more careful and haven't hurt myself since. They are quite durable, and we've been putting ours in the dishwasher, no harm so far.
