Survey: What Pizza Topping Is a Dealbreaker for You?

Green bell peppers and pineapple. I like pineapple, generally, just not warm. I hate green bell peppers though. I've tried so hard to like them, but it will just never happen.

Thanksgiving desserts that will survive USPS

Thanks so much for these ideas! I told him I wanted to send him things and he said that it takes too long to get mail right now for it to be of any use (I think he's leaving the week after Thanksgiving for Florida). Thanks anyways, and I will definitely keep these ideas for next time I want to send him something (and prepare farther in advance) :)

Calling all penny-pinchers!

When I was in college, my roommate and I would have "pantry scraps" nights. We would literally take 3 things out of our pantry and make dinner with it, no matter what it was. The most memorable (and delicious) was when we made a sort of chicken and apple "cobbler." We baked chunks of chicken and apple together with walnuts and shredded cheddar and topped it off with pastry dough (just flour and eggs). It turned out really well, and I was super surprised at how it tasted. I think it might've had walnuts in it too. Anyway, it was a fun and challenging game for us to play. Some nights we had things that weren't so great (maple beer pork comes to mind), but it really tested our cooking abilities.

Another thing to consider, especially with winter coming up, is soup! I've always thought that I'd like to start with a boring base soup on Monday and add a few things during the week to make it different each night. Like start with a huge pot of tomato soup on Monday, add some veggies on Tuesday, add some pasta or beans on Wednesday and add some meat or stale bread on Thursday. And by Friday you'll probably be ready for something else :)

Dinner Tonight: Shrimp Quesadilla with Kale

I made this last night and I can vouch for its deliciousness. I doubled the recipe (I didn't really think this would be enough for 2) except for the jalapeno and I used queso blanco for the cheese. It made A TON of food, and my boyfriend was really impressed with how good it was. I was worried because of some of the comments, but I decided not to let myself get convinced not to make it by people who haven't even tasted it. This was a great meal, pretty easy to make, and it was delicious.

Recap: The Next Food Network Star Season 6, Episode 5

Ladies, ladies, ladies, Paul was just awful and creepy. I would never want to take food from him... And as far as Brianna goes, hopefully she'll be gone soon. She just seems so fake, and like she's trying to be a lot more fun than she actually is. Every time she talks about how much she likes to party, she just seems flat.

But on the subject of Brad - he's too cute!!! He's been one of my favorites from the beginning mainly because he's adorable, but also because he really knows what he's doing. I loved it when the judges (can't remember which one) said that all he would have to do is smile, and everyone would love him. So true.

Three Floyd's Brewpub: Top Notch Beer, Good Enough Pizza

I know this is the pizza section, but I wanted to comment and say that they have EXCELLENT macaroni and cheese, and for a dollar more, you can get bacon in it. That's all I order when I eat there.

Why Do Phở Restaurant Names Usually Involve Numbers?

I spent 3 weeks in Vietnam, and (I could be completely wrong), but it seemed to me that in the South, they pronounced it "foe" and in the North they pronounce it "fuh." It also tasted better in the South and the people were friendlier there, so I prefer to call it "foe." :)
