French-Door Refrigerators - I don't get it!

That's it! You've all talked me into one of these! Now I just need the money to buy one. I am so frustrated with my side by side. I've got a narrow one and am tired of pulling everything out to get to something in the back. And forget about putting sheet pans in my freezer!
Time to start rolling my pennies!

frying w/potato buds

I've never heard of using them straight up for a coating, but I can see if you whiz them in the food processor to make potato flour it would be good. I use them (flakes, not buds) mainly to thicken stews and sauces sometimes. I'm one of those that uses cornflake crumbs sometimes too. They really make a nice crunchy coating on pork chops, yummy!

SPAM spam SPAM spam SPAM.... what to do?

I like fried Spam sandwiches too, on white bread with mayo. I also make macaroni salad with cubes of spam and cubes of cheese. Spam mixed in macaroni and cheese or Scalloped Potatoes with Spam. I just like Spam and I'm not afraid to admit it! LOL!

Where did all the white grapefruits go?

I think they're all still hanging on the trees down here! I live in Florida and most of the people I know who have grapefruit trees in their yard have the white variety. I prefer the pink or red because they're sweeter.

Cooking with Kids: Scrambled Egg Smackdown with Tyler Florence

Reading through the comments here confirms to me that what we grew up with has a great deal to do with how we like our eggs. I prefer mine cooked on medium and sometimes I will just scramble them in the pan instead of in a bowl, that's how my mom did it. I also don't like them creamy, they seem undercooked that way.
As far as the water or milk issue, my thought is that water does the better job of making the eggs fluffier.

@dharmon--I also have an LG with that beeping door feature. The two grey buttons at the top of the regrigerator doors are the sensors for the door alarm. You could try taping them down to mimic the doors being closed.

We are all tall at my house, and not having to bend over to see what is on the lower shelves is my favorite part, not to mention all the other wonderful things.

here in spam capitol of the world... one of the best ways to make it is the marinate it in soy sauce and sugar, then fry it in a pan. wait till it gets a little crispy then put it on a bed of rice! (add some of the sauce to the rice as well)

Are potato buds frozen or dried like flakes in order to make instant mashed potatoes? When I was a kid, Mom used to make chicken using crunched up potato chips as a coating - it was delicious, but obviously not too healthy!

Yep, I think its a Midwest thing too. I really like it with fish- kinda like getting your fish and chips all in 1 bite.

I use them as a coating in place of flour, sometimes because I like it better (potato flakes), or because I need it to be gluten free. Most frequent use - take leftover mashed potatoes, melt in lots of cheese, make into patties, coat with flakes, and brown in butter. To die for delicious.

I microwave them with some sour cream, butter & cheddar. I'll do about 10 eggs at at time for my family of 4. The secret is carefully watching how the 'set' is progressing. I'll microwave for 2 minutes then stir, and then for about 1 more minute & stir. When eggs start to set, then stop cooking, cover & let stand. in a couple of minutes uncover & stir and you'll
have light, fluffy, creamy goodness!
