Get to Know a Serious Eater.

About: Serious eater meets Serious Eats! My love of cooking was reinforced by a stint as a flat-iron cook in a local dive and later as sous-chef to a former white house chef at a Wisconsin resort. Mom though, was my real inspiration.

Favorite foods: When it comes right down to it, I'm basically a meat and potatoes girl. Er..woman. (No one past the age of 50 is 'girlish' in any way.)

Last bite on earth: A perfectly done medium rare steak please. I'll have that with twice fried crinkle cut fries with a side of sour cream and salad of mixed greens.

Bluecoat American Dry Gin

i haven't tried bluecoat, but can't let this post about gin go by without mentioning a local (milwaukee) product coming out of the great lakes distillery. they've developed a delicious gin employing interesting flavor components like sweet basil and wisconsin ginseng. its not widely available outside the state, but if you know someone here, have them send you a bottle. delicious!

Seriously Delicious Holiday Giveaway: A Year of Chocolate

The only chocolate disappointment I've experienced was when my 5 year old self climbed the pantry shelves to bite into a bar of baker unsweetened. (Ugh!) Now, though any chocolate will do, dark is by far my favorite.

Bluecoat American Dry Gin

I bought two bottles of BlueCoat last month and have just finished the first.

Definitely not your normal London gin, I've mixed BlueCoat versions of most of my gin favorites. The Bronx and the PX's Big O seemed to be off, so maybe staying away from orange is a good plan.

Dunno why Spirit Journal trashed this brand.
