I love Italian Wedding soup and a thin chicken gumbo
Cook the Book: 'Ten'
Had a craving for gumbo during a two day power outage. Cooked it on a barbecue pit...turned out pretty good...but the rice left something to be desired.

My best pork memory would have to be remembering my grandmother's pork roast with gravy. That woman prepares pork roast gravy that would make you weep with joy. It's hard for her to cook now, arthritis has damaged her hands badly....but I do believe my family members would even now come to blows for their fair share of her gravy.

My favorite pork memory would have to be of cookouts at my grandmother's house. She would barbeque pork chops, basted with her incredible homemade sauce. I can still smell the smoke wafting across the backyard and the way the neighbors would all come out to taste some of ReeDee's delicious pork chops. They were fantastic. I now have the recipe but somehow mine don't taste quite as wonderful as the ones she always made.

homemade soups, starting with meat bones and ending with seasonal vegetables....the best! takes hours to simmer on the stove...but the end results are used in so many meals...the simplest being laddled into a big bowl and with a crusty bread on the side.

My Momma liked to make big ol pots of soups and stews. All us kids and our kids would come over and eat. Sometimes she'd be creative and add different things. My Daddy would smell it and come in and ask what she was cooking. She would tell him she was making "stuff". It was funny. She was a great cook.
