Cookbooks on a Kindle

I am not sure about Kindle, but I have a Kobo e-reader, which has a desktop application. I can read the books on my laptop as well as the e-reader. On my laptop, I can see all of the pictures in colour. I can take my e-reader into the kitchen to cook once I pick out a delicious looking recipe.

Weekend Giveaway: 'My Father's Daughter'

I think Natalie Portman, she is vegan (now vegetarian), but I think it would have a lot of good recipes like Alicia Silverstone's book.

Served: Health Department Hell (Part 1)

I am glad to hear that you took the class so seriously by bringing the paper and guessing on the multiple choice.

Dinner Tonight: Chickpea Flour Soup from Provence

This sounds delicious and simple. I am going to try it this weekend!

How do I reheat these huge trays of frozen meatballs I made

You could use a crock pot to heat them up/keep them warm. You will probably need more than one though!

I am seeing a lot of chocolate covered sponge toffee in stores. Sponge toffee is fairly easy to make.

Vegetarian needs to impress meat eater

I went to a vegetarian cooking demo once and they made a delicious puff pastry filled with a creamy mushroom sauce, kind of like chicken a la king, but with mushrooms. They served it with a mesculun salad. It was very rich, and delicious.
I get the BBC Good Food Vegetarian magazines, they always have meals to impress guests and they use a lot of puff pastry with different seasonal vegetables and cheese made into a torte or pie.
Eggs poached in red wine are also delicious/fancy for a starter. Some recipes contain beef stock, but some don't.

Advice! Going on a first date!

Not to be too 'gross' but try to avoid food that could cause gas. Trying to hide gas pains can make for an uncomfortable evening!

Don't drink too much even if you are nervous because it can lower your inhibitions too much.

I always offer to pay, but normally the guy will insist. Just be yourself, the guy is just as nervous as you are.

Bring cab fare so you can get home on your own if you need to.

Hot lemon and honey for sore throats. Ginger tea with milk for a sick tummy. My mom used to give us this when we were sick as kids and it still works to make me feel better today.

How does your garden grow?

I also have a balcony garden and grow mostly herbs. Any flowers or tomatoes that I try to grow, the squirrels climb up and eat them!
Another one you should try is arugula, it grows very easily and quickly.
I grow a lot of mint for mojitos, but I put it in a separate big pot because it takes over very quickly.
It was still cold up here, so I haven't planted yet, but I am going to today.

What Weird Family Foods Did You Grow Up Thinking Were Normal?

My mom used to make everything home made, like yogurt with home made jam, or maple syrup from our own trees and home made granola bars. As a kid it was embarassing, but now I would love to have them.

We also used to eat white bread torn up in a bowl with sugar and milk on top. My grandmother used to make us brown sugar sandwhiches when we stayed with her (white bread, butter, brown sugar).
