Cocktails and Spirits with Paul Clarke: Eggs (Whites and Yolks) in Cocktails
Every Christmas we toast my late great grandfather with his recipe for whiskey sours (at about 9 am no less). He owned a number of bars in his day during the prohibition, and was a bootlegger. His recipe calls for some ice in a blender, whiskey, lemon juice, sugar and a raw egg (white and yolk). At first, it seems disgusting at the thought of it, but I'll never have a whiskey sour any other way. Thank you for this :)

two things -
one, spicy ramen (real ramen, not the package stuff, though that also works) or spicy miso soup. i almost always have thai bird chilies and miso paste on hand, so this is a quick go to. add some garlic as well and you have soothing noodles and broth.
second, a hot toddy (hot water, bourbon, honey, lemon, cinnamon stick and cloves) or the non-alcoholic flu version of hot water, lemon, honey and grated ginger. just keep downing those two things and you'll be better in no time.

Minted blueberries with hand whipped lemon cream ... best served, presentation wise, in a martini glass. So unbelievably tasty.

God I miss a slightly crispy white hot slathered with the meat hot sauce and sweet relish. I have my parents bring out both every time they come out to Boston, and have had Tahou's parties where we recreate Nick's plates.
M'mm ... :)
