Not just a slump--a string of cooking failures!

I find that this time of year always brings cooking disasters for me. The produce is gross, and what is good is ridiculously expensive. I loose my coking mo-jo this time of year and things always go horrible wrong, I burn, under-cook, forget integral ingredients, get cooking amnesia....

Spring cooking fever I guess.

How to Make Cold-Brew Iced Coffee

Thanks jayteemo!

Question: Do most people use the same coffee (beans) they drink hot? Any recommendations?

How to Make Cold-Brew Iced Coffee

I too am wondering if all this extra work is really necessary. . .but am willing to give it a whirl. I usually just make a pot of regular coffee extra strong and cool it (then refrigerate) , along with coffee ice cubes and home made simple syrup I am good to go. While I sometimes think the coffee has a slightly bitter taste, I am never unhappy with the results. Can it really be that much better? I can't wait to find out!

Slice Poll: Do You Stop Eating Pizza When It's Hot Outside?

We cut down on making it at home in the heat of summer, but when the first cool day rolls around (as they tend to do up here in VT) and I whip up a batch of dough!

It Must Be Spring: New 2010 Ben & Jerry's Flavors Are Here

I am a Vermonter and I sometimes get a little bored with the woo-hoo "what is the new Ben and Jerry's flavor" game (especially since they are no longer local.) But I have to admit I stalked the freezer section at my supermarket awaiting the arrival of HT Maple Blondie and I was not disappointed! It is beyond delish and I hope they make it a permanent flavor. YUM!

Taste Test: Store-Bought Tofu

Vermont Soy! Amazingly delicious tofu (and soy milk too!) www.vermontsoy.com Great little company, amazing organic, non-gmo products. Pretty sure they are now available in some New England Whole Foods Markets. I am lucky enough to get the product locally so I don't have to buy anything else anymore. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

DVD Giveaway: Food, Inc.

Avoiding as many processed foods as possible. If I can make it from scratch I do (or try to!) Joined my local CSA (community supported agriculture) farm, and buy local when I can t get it from them. Buying more organic. These all started with baby steps years ago and are now just the way we do things in our house, and we are healthier for it!

Serious Heat: How Did You Become a Chilehead?

Like some others I was pretty much a wuss most of my life watching my father and then my husband pile on the chiles and hot sauce. It wasn't until I was pregnant with my daughter (baby #3) that I lost most of my taste buds and found that I had to "jazz" everything up quite a bit to get anything to taste good. Now, 4 years later I freely use and cook with spices, hot sauce and peppers of all kinds and I am pretty sure I have my taste buds back(?).

Ed Levine's Serious Diet, Week 82: Peanut Butter Portion Control

I am sooo with those of you that have discovered Peanut Butter & Co. I have always loved peanut butter (and anything made with peanut butter) but this stuff is really unbelievable. Out of the jar, sometimes just need a taste on my finger, amazing. We have a stash of the spicy and dark chocolate in the pantry but just ran out of the maple. . .my husband is freaking.

But my bring me back to my childhood fav is a Thomas english muffin with PB & butter. YUMMMMMMM.
