America's Best Ice Cream
I prefer Graeter's to Jeni's...though I also prefer Denise's to Jeni's. As far as I'm concerned, Jeni's is vastly overrated.

Not only is Zingerman's not the best donut in Michigan, it's not even the best cake donut in Ann Arbor! (That would be Washtenaw Dairy.)
I didn't watch the show, but I've always been a little uncomfortable with the personal vitriol directed at Sandra Lee (and Rachel Ray, and a few others). I certainly don't watch her show, and wouldn't make any of her recipes, but that doesn't mean she's not a good person. Good for FN for humanizing her.
I'm confused. It's not a question of math or fractions at all to know that "nine-tenths" is the same as "point-nine." I think that's pretty standard. I think the poor deli worker's confusion was not that she didn't get the math, but that she had never heard someone ask for such a specific amount. To speculate about her education is frankly uncalled for, particularly in a post with spelling errors and a complete disregard for capitalization and other grammatical niceties.
if you want me to hang out, starbucks, two words: free. internet.
As one of the previous commenters said, I've done it with chicken tenders and also with chicken breast cut into chicken finger-size strips. It's worked out quite well, but they're more like chicken fingers than like good-ol' fried chicken even with the same battering process. Something about working around the bones makes it what it is, I guess.
My favorite was "the crying baby gets the milk" which I assume is the fortune cookie version of "the squeaky wheels gets the grease" but somehow more disturbing and more hilarious all the time.
It also came true.
They were sued for these ads, too, and lost--the court found they infringed the copyright on H.R. Pufnstuf. So creepy AND unoriginal. Good work, Mickey D's.
so, her middle initial is the number eight?
I'll have to try Teo's sometime soon, according to their website they also have the best Espresso in Austin. We'll see!
Unassuming, simple, home-made, organic and heavenly delicious Moorenko's in Silver Spring, MD is a hidden gem. Try the white chocolate pistachio and you will discover why. YUM!!
capogiro is truly bananas. best gelato in the US.
but ciao bella? just okay. and no chintatown ice cream or labratorio di gelato in NYC?
I have never been there, but Penn State University has an ice cream shop that is legendairy (ha!).
I was worried that people were going to get the wrong idea about Ohio, but it looks like Jeni's and Denise's are well represented!
I said this before, but I'll say it again: LaSalle Vanilla or Cherry Vanilla is the best ice cream in New York that you buy by the pint. Unfortunately, not too many places carry it. In my neighborhood in Midwood (Ave J) there's just one store that carries it, and even there, I can't find the complete selection of flavors. In my opinion, LaSalle is better than Hagaan Daz.
Columbus (Ohio - for people not Ohio Hip) - is the ice cream capital of the World.
We have Jeni's, Denise's, Graeters, Handels and more.
Check out the ice cream category on my blog.

Graters is good - but Serious Eats needs to do some more reasearch.
Funny story - The guys who own Toscanini's and Rancatore's are brothers. Mr. Rancatore, the older brother, got to keep the name, but their stores are very similar. I'd say Toscanini's has more adventurous flavors, but Ranc's is def a local favorite, too. Locations are in Lexington and Cambridge
The Juice Bar on Nantucket serves up some of the creamiest homemade ice cream ever! The flavors are fantastic and it's always so difficult to make a choice!
I totally agree with the call for adding Brewster's in Atlanta to the list. Even though it's a chain, they are fantastic!
My mouth is watering....perhaps tonight will be an ice-cream night!
While I certainly agree with the nomination of McConnell's in SB (living here, I suppose I'm biased), the best ice cream I've ever had is at Screamin' Mimi's in Sebastopol, CA. Mimi wins award after award...her blod orange sorbet is to die for, and the Cookie Galaxy ice cream is phenomenal (with Oreo bites, graham cracker pieces and another that's eluding me right now...Nutter Butters maybe?). Yum, yum, yum.
