What to charge for lunch

Thank you all for your comments and concerns. Basically a few coleagues said they'd pay me to make them lunch since I cook really healthy meals (and they are all following paleo diet now which is similar to the specific carbohydrate diet I follow) I said when I cook for myself I'll make enough for them. They pay for their share plus a little extra for my time and energy (shopping, prepping, cooking, packaging). When i cook I text them what's for lunch and what the cost is. It's not a business. But it could become one at which time I will get the licensing. Just thought there was a food cost formula floating around out there like I used in the restaurant business.

What to charge for lunch

THanks for your reply! They asked me to make lunch so they get something healthy and I can make some money. The formula I used in my restaurant 12 years ago was food cost + 30%. Is that sill the formula? Each meal averages $8.00 with that formula which I think is fair but I just want to make sure I'm not over or under charging. I use local grass fed organic ingredients and everyone is eating paleo or specific carbohydrate diets (SCD) so it's basically meat and vegetables, nuts, honey. No grains, potatoes, sugar, gluten, dairy, or soy. I eat SCD so when I cook I make enough for 3 others. I don't cook but once or twice a week. It involves purchasing more and prepping longer.
