Food Network, enough cakes already!!!

Funny, I also thought this weekend that I was tired of cake challenges...I do like Bobby Flay's throwdowns (because he doesn't always win), and I like Iron Chef America as my "challenge" shows. As for those intrepid 'travellers", Anthony Bourdain is highly watchable on the Travel Channel. Don't really care for the Neely's, or Big Daddy...but Rachael, Paula and Ina can stay. I, too, miss Molto Mario...he cooked some great food!

Summer reading and food: Anyone read these two or suggestions?

I have read a lot of the books recommended here, and have picked up a few titles for MY summer reading list...Thanks to dhorst for asking the question!

Favorite Ramen Toppings?

While at an Army base in Korea, we would go into the village and get ramen (the spicy kind) topped with a slice of American cheese and a scoop of Kimchi...delicious! We re-create that here at home by using sriracha to get the heat.

When do you Serious Eats?

Whenever I get an e-mail from Serious Eats, wherever I am, that is when I check out the site. It never fails to entertain me!

Potato salad

My mom's recipe...boil new potatoes until tender, drizzle with cider vinegar while still hot. When cool enough to handle, cube and mix with Hellman's mayo, a couple good squirts of French's mustard, diced onion, diced cucumber, sliced radishes, celery seed, salt and pepper to taste. Mmmm...it was good when I was 5, and it is still good at 45!!!
