Horrible. Won't even load properly on my machine. Can see my use dwindling.
Sour Cream and Pasta?
I wonder if it's been edited incorrectly for this version - I have the English edition and the smoked bacon and pasta shells recipe calls for creme fraiche, not sour cream.
Hmm, homemade sloe gin...with a bug!
Drink enough of the gin and it'll kill off any potential nasties from the bug.

Mashed taters, steamed or boiled?
Bake, then rice. If you're doing a large amount, I reckon this is the easiest way - you can fit a lot in the oven at once. I also think it gives a much nicer, more potatoey flavour.
Where do you buy your spices from? London/Oxford UK
I've ordered online from a company called seasonedpioneers.co.uk Possibly not the cheapest way to buy, but they have a good selection. There's also the spice shop in West London, which I believe is tiny but well-stocked (and also offers online buying). Further afield is Steenbergs, which a friend gave me a lovely gift box of spices from.
Other than that, I'd investigate your local ethnic groceries - they often have a good selection really cheaply.
Not digging the ad redirects
Very irritating. The first time I just gave up as it took forever to navigate away from the ad. Intrusive and disappointing.
Summer reading and food: Anyone read these two or suggestions?
Another big fan of Ruth Reichl (albeit with difficulty as her books are either hard to track down or quite expensive here in the UK). I'd also recommend Dear Francesca, which is by Mary Conti and is a lovely tale of a mother recording her (Italian) family's recipes for her daughter.
At the moment, I'm reading The Hungry Cyclist by Tom Kevill-Davies. He's cycling across the Americas in search of good food. Quite entertaining, although I only started yesterday.
What Fictional Foods Do You Wish Were Real?
Everything that's described by Laura Ingalls in the book about Almanzo's childhood - Farmer Boy. Even as a kid who wasn't particularly interested in food those pages made my mouth water!!
What's your favorite kind of meat?
Got to be piggy. Whether that's bacon, pork belly, sausages...what an animal!!
help me remember the name of this puffy snack!
The bacon ones are called Frazzles in the UK. Mmm, crunchy, bacony goodness!!
Jamie Oliver: Dinner Cooked for G20 'a Success'
Shocking! A chef touching food with his bare hands. Heaven forfend that we should ever be exposed to any germs and actually build up some immunity.
bean dip
I use butter (lima?) beans instead of cannellini, which I think have a bit more flavour. Also garlic, rosemary and lemon juice.
'Top Chef' Contestant Fabio Viviani Spokesman for New Frozen Pizza Line
I'd agree with my fellow UK poster - they're definitely one of the superior frozen brands. Good crust and dispersion of toppings. Terribly cheesey ads on TV, though!!
Snapshots from the UK: Walkers' Crazy-Flavored Crisps Competition
The fish and chip flavour are indeed one of the nastiest things I've ever had the misfortune to eat. The builders breakfast was little better - basically a crisp flavoured with stale grease. After throwing those two bags away I decided not to try any more of these.
Estrella Dill Chips (Swedish, I think) are awesome - more chivey, really, than dill. I also love the Irish Tayto brand - they do a gorgeous steak and pepper flavour.
I spotted a Valentines special from smallish company Tyrells the other week. Much as I love my crisps, I was in no way tempted to try Strawberry, Sweet Chilli and White Wine flavour. Even if they did come in a very pretty pink package.
A Great Burger in London Hidden in Bodean's Barbecue Restaurant
Just round the corner from my office - I shall have to investigate!!
How Often Do You Eat the Same Meal?
Would second the living alone posters - much as I love cooking and experimenting, it's less exciting when you're just doing it for yourself (and also difficult in terms of buying ingredients - invariably end up with many "orphans!) That said, even when I'm cooking with the BF, we tend to stick to tried and tested favourites - he's a bit picky and would rather know he'll eat something than risk vast quantities of leftovers and him going hungry!
I used to think that it was just me that hated eating the same thing two nights running, but have actually found it's quite common. So although I'll be eating leftover roast chicken tonight in some guise, I can't stand having an identical meal two nights running (which is another reason why I tend to stick to things I know the quantities for one for).
Quick - Whadya Have For Lunch Today?
Bought a very nasty chicken baguette - ended up throwing half of it away and am now hoping that I won't be seeing it again later.....
Ikea Groceries: Some Assembly Required
We often make trips to Ikea just to visit the food market (BF is half-Swedish so it's one of the few places he can find some home comforts). Not sure if they carry it in the US stores, but the reindeer salami is fabulous, esp as the filling on a flatbread sandwich! The Estrella Dill Chips are also some of the best crisps I've ever had.
Craving meatballs in cream gravy now.....
Rocky Road Brownies What makes them Rocky Road?
Over here in the UK, Nigella Lawson is doing a Christmas series on TV and made Festive Rocky Road last night. She used amaretti biscuits, brazil nuts and marshmallows. Looked great, but then I think I've yet to find a Rocky Road that doesn't!
A Visit to London's Borough Market
Sorry to be a pedant, but just to avoid confusion, a hoggett is a 2 yr old lamb, rather than a baby hog.
