Weekend Cook and Tell: Soup Stories

I had a bunch of nappa cabbage some spinach and jumbo udon noodles sitting around. I cooked down some chicken stock added what I thought I tasted in sukiyaki: ginger, soy, garlic, sugar. It was the best, cheapest bowl of soup I've made in a long time. Probably wouldn't pass a test but I was delighted.

School Food we actually LIKE...

I'm a lunch lady. Really I'm a food service manager and this week we have things from hot dogs, to scratch lasagna, meat loaf and fish sticks. It's a balance between time to prep, what holds, what kids will eat and what skills the staff have. There is always an abundance of fresh fruit and the once weekly "odd" vegetable. Like sauteed zucchini or roasted Brussels sprouts.
I have a 9 year old and I'd let her eat the food I serve these children. I'd feel good about it too.

SE Staff Picks: Our Favorite Girl Scout Cookies, and How to Eat Them

Yo, Keebler makes Girl Scout Cookies. Well Kellogg does actually and Kellogg is Keebler. So if you want your hit of GS goodness during the non season go to regular cookie area and pick up a Keebler package of a similar looking cookie. It will taste very similar.

Okay, now a question. I've got to come up with Girl Scout cookie recipes. You know, recipes that use GS cookies as an igredient. Thoughts? I've thought of cheesecake crusts, but what more can I do?

Thanks!

How to Make Peanut Butter-Chocolate Buckeyes

My 3rd grade daughter was indoctrinated with making of the buckeyes recently. She was born at THE Ohio State University Medical Center. Buckeyes are something we people from Ohio (Cincinnati to Cleveland) take seriously.

Delicous looking recipe.

OIAJ: Oatmeal in a (Peanut Butter) Jar

Sausage links dipped in peanut butter is favorite.

I also like a dollop in my tomato basil soup.

Peanut Butter on broccoli quiche is nice too.

Cook the Book: 'The Boozy Baker'

I'm a fan of Midori in cheesecake. Also brushed onto Geniose cake layers for a melony cake (with stabilized whipped cream frosting.)

Tasting Your Words?

@ Justin H, I love the pod cast series, stuff you should know and stuff you missed in history class.

Looking for a very simple apple dessert

Sautee diced apples in butter with brown sugar and cinnamon. Cook until the sugar carmelizes. Put it over vanilla ice-cream.
