I have Type 1 Diabetes, and on occasion my blood sugar drops while I'm sleeping. Usually when this happens I dream about eating some sort of carb heavy food. Or trying to find, buy or steal candy. Once I dreamed I was eating fresh corn off the stalk. Half way through these dreams I wake up and realize I'm sweating and shaky. Always thankful the message gets through!
I eat a spoonful when I have hiccups. Sometimes I think the trick to hiccup cures is just to take your mind off them, and preoccupy the gullet. I love to sprinkle cinnamon sugar on slices of apple and dip them in pb. And I love the combo of pb and chocolate.
Also...toast with pb, banana and honey.
Cool! One year, I made a gingerbread house with stained glass windows. I put crushed jolly rancher in the cutouts before baking.
Coors Light is super refreshing. I like good beers too, but come on, sometimes you want something thats just light and cold and carbonated and cheap. especially if you're in college and you want to drink lots and lots of them. Down with the snobbery!
I think I'm having butternut squash tonight too. I'm going to roast it with a couple cubed sweet potatoes, olive oil, balsamic, butter, s&p, thyme, and rosemary. I'm also making Tyler Florence's pan roasted chicken with mushrooms and rosemary. I thought it would be an excellent match, and it's very easy.
That sounds so good....I made some guacamole today, but I'm feeling too lazy to make a dinner that compliments it. So I'll probably just snack on it and some leftovers...my mama's bbq pulled pork, an artichoke from yesterday....and perhaps some mint chocolate chip ice cream. Random!
I have a method for eating a good slice of pizza...I start with the tip of the triangle, because it is the best bite or two. This whets my appetite and I eat the crust, which is filling (and hopefully tasty- like I said, this method is for a good slice) but lacks delicious toppings. After the crust, I finish with the middle. Now I could just eat the slice backwards, but I can't resist the perfect tip, and then I'm ready for the filling crust, and I finish on a good note with the middle.
I really like foods that have a certain element of ritual to them- like artichokes
i had an artichoke with butter, and a piece of pizza.
My dinner will be rather late tonight, but I think I'll have some of my dad's vegetable soup and a turkey sandwich- whole wheat, provolone, lettuce, tomato, red onion and mayo. Maybe a granny smith apple too, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and dipped in peanut butter.
I ran two miles in 18 minutes (I'm in the last week of a 6 week fitness bootcamp) and I'm very very hungry...so I'm going to get on that now..
I really like Legends! They serve fresh bread with herbed olive oil for dipping, which you can buy by the bottle. You can see the menu on the website.
9:30: orange juice
12: granola bar
1:30: italian sub and barbeque chips
4: handful of frozen fruit- mango, strawberry, papaya, pineapple
6: bengal spice tea
9: red beans & rice w/ fresh tomato, lettuce, sour cream; chocolate chip coconut cookie with milk
toasted multigrain bread, slice of cheddar or american cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. i love a dill pickle on the side!
Pizza from my local, late night, main street place. It's thin crusted, greasy, and so gooooood. They make the best white pizza with garlic and basil and ricotta, and with a side of their delicious marinara it is a frequent craving for me, drunk or not. My friend's mom makes awesome drunk snack food, like veggie pizza- the kind with cream cheese, broccoli, carrots, red pepper, etc.- and seven layer dip.
Hungover today, so I've had lots of water, a little gatorade, and brunch that my dad made for me: fried potatoes, green peppers and onions, sliced tomatoes, toast, and soy "sausage"- which is terrible. Now I'm thinking about making a burrito with mashed pinto beans, cheese, tomato, lettuce, sour cream and hot sauce.
Yesterday: black tea with sugar, cream, cardamom, cinnamon...fried egg sandwich (toasted multigrain, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, mayo) with a pickle. Then for dinner I had grilled chicken, grilled vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, red and green peppers, onion, and grape tomatoes, marinated in garlic, thyme, olive oil, s&p) and mediterranean orzo made with lemon, parsley, kalamata olives, and feta. I went out and drank lots of beer and ordered a HUGE plate of nachos supreme. In the late night I made farfalle with a pseudo-alfredo sauce for my friends, but I only had a couple bites.
